Hi ive just finished my first map and have to correct a few bugs, Ive spent about 2 hours so far and have finished most of the layout, *just need to change the inside of the city around a bit*. It is of Troy and is based mainly on the film. Leave feedback and dont be affraid to critiscise as this is how i will get better. Thanks..

Also.. i have the following bugs and wondered if anyone could help.

    - A strange bridge keeps appearing in the centre of the map. It is not there in the edit screen and troops just walk straight through it.

    - When i break down the city walls and gate they look the same but my troops can walk through. Im just wondering why they dont fall down.

    Thanks all,

I thought those wooden bars on the beach were just a ripoff from Save private Ryan (which's name I always missspel), as those wooden bar things didn't really have any meaning back then. Referring to those anti-tank ones.
A good barrigade is much more useful.

They were in the film which is what ive based it on most, they were to stop horses charging up the beach as some horses could run straight into them and die...

That map looks just fine to me.

Might I suggest you change the desert terrain though? Desert combat sucks, all of the fun troops will be totally exhausted by the time actual fighting commences. Try arid terrain maybe? That would still look good, and seems not inappropriate for the historical setting. (yes, I know it's supposed to be a beach, and beaches are made of sand and all that...)

Sorry, can't help you with that twilight zone bridge thing.

I still think the big anti-tank wooden things are not that useful, you know, horses can run in forest without crashing to trees too often..
Besides, who'd be able to get the horses charge from the ships?
The palisade style thing upper there was more useful. Dig a small trench and have 1-3 rows of short sharp spikes there against the enemy, and see if someone can get over it whilst your archers are laying waste...

    Welcome Bruudley

    Nice map

If you're interested in making battlemaps you'll find a lot of helpful tips in this thread:Battlemap Editor Q&A from the Alchemist lab in the Dungeon.

The game engine thinks your map is a river-map, and as you haven't placed any bridge yourself it will do so automatically.

If a map has water on both the eastern and the western side of the map(left and right on the small overview map in the corner), it will be interpreted as a river map. In the case of your map, we can see on the overview map that this is the case. All you have to do is fill in some more land in the corners, so that it looks more like a bay rather than a straight shoreline, and the bridge should disappear.

If you however had made the map so that everything had been rotated 90deg., and the water then was on either the left or the right side, you would not have experienced this problem.

Nothing is wrong actually. You will find that if you restart MTW, your walls will fall down.
