Playing as the Hospitallers I launched an attack against Tripoli (it was occupied by another catholic faction but it was an opportunity I couldn't let slip by) from my base at Rhodes. I won the battle and conquered the province and I then started to rebuild the place.

I then noticed an English crusade in Syria but didn't think anything of it. Next year came and the English crusade entered Tripoli and I gave the messenger my blessing that they were allowed to pass through my land on their holy quest. However, a ransom demand came up from the English of 8000 florins for my army stationed in Tripoli Hey I just let you guys in and now you hold my army for ransom? I paid the ransom and the English crusade took over my province

I attempted to build a port in time in order to pull my troops out but couldn't. So really I'm up a certain creak without a paddle .

Were they your allies by any chance? That has happened to me before but often its because i press the space bar too quickly and not read the message and then the damn crusade takes over my beloved province and when that happens to a province like Constantinople or Egypt i am irrate

No they weren't my allies but the funny thing is after I paid them the fee to kindly ferry my men across the Med they wanted to ally with me. Damn bloody cheek I am even more peed off because I had ransomed the Crusader King for 13000 florins when I took Tripoli and now I will lose most of it to pay for ferry service . Looks like the Crusader King had the last laugh after all but I'll get the bastard.

What's the mod in question? I haven't yet seen hospitallers in bkb, nor the original.

It's VikingHorde's new XL update (143MB). I couldn't wait to dive in as the Knights of St John and in GA mode too .

I managed to capture Cyprus and wrestle Tripoli back from the English (who were meant to carry their crusade to Antioch but found Tripoli more to their liking for some reason .) The poor Egyptians really have had a hard time as the French now occupy Palestine and Arabia, Spain has Antioch and Syria, I have Tripoli, and the Armenians have Mesopotamia (a new province included in the mod).

What happens when you destroy the chapter house? You get the control of the army, and it stops being crusade?
So I could take venetians, make crusade towards palestine, go to constantinople, destroy chapter house, and seize the province? If it works, cool...

An unsuccessful crusade is always a bad thing though. But if you destroy the Chapter House won't all the troops be transported back to where it originally came from? (or to one of your nearest provinces?)

I haven't had this problem with crusades but i have had my army ransomed back to me by allies were we both attacked into a province at the same time and i had no link back to my own lands(ship sank). They are still my allies afterwards also.

    Crusades are bizare.

    Me and Spain were Allies.

Me and Spain were teaming up on the Almohads. I was the Byz.

I attack a country, the same turn Spain launches a crusade against it. I thought it might cancel out the crusade - but no, after that me and Spain were bitter enemies because his Crusade arrived and suddenly we went from lifelong allies to enemies
