This Evil Worm spreads itself by copying email addresses more or less at random from files all over the infected computer.

The nasty part is it falsifies the sender's address, over-writing it with another randomly-chosen address.

So it is very hard to track down who is sending it to you.

Of course, it is not the sender's fault; there's no obvious record on his machine showing anything happening.

These worms usualy come in form of an email attachment (sometimes as hyperlink). By openning the attachment, or even openning and reading the email, the worm will be activated. These worms usually try to exploit the security weakness of the email program such as MS Outlook (most likely target), Eudora, ...Once activate, the worm will send itself to all of the addresses it can find on your PC. Usually, worms are not harmful for your PC. However, it is annoying when you start to recieve dozens of junk emails every day and some of them may contain worm/virus.

Things you may want to try to avoid these worm/virus:

1. Update your Antivirus software often. For minor update, you can download the new virus definition from the web site of the Producer/Publisher/Maker of your Antivirus software. For major update such as new version, you may need to buy it. A new version usually comes out every 2 or 3 years. With up-to-date virus definition, most Antivirus software will be able to detect and eliminate these worm/virus.

2. Your email service should have build in virus protection/virus scan. Scan your email before you read or open attachment. You should scan email/attachment even if they come from someone you know.

3. Junk emails and email from unidentify sender should be deleted immediately (don't read/open), especially those come with an attachment.

4. Use Windows Update feature. It may help to fix a few security problem in your current Windows version and MS software.

5. There are many web site dedicated to provide information on new viruses such as the sites below. These sites may also offer solutions for an infected PC too.
