Went to gamestop.com and looked up their ordering information for Rome:Total War.

DISCLAIMER: I do NOT vouch for the accuracy of any of this. This is merely what I found on a major retailers website, so it's second-hand at best.

Tech requirements were sparse but here's what they had:

    Minimum:

Operating System: English version of Microsoft® Windows® 98SE/ME/2000/XP
    Processor: Pentium® III 1.0GHz (1000MHz) or Athlon™ 1.0GHz (1000MHz) processor or higher
    RAM: 256MB RAM
CD-ROM: 8x Speed CD-ROM drive (1200KB/sec sustained transfer rate) and latest drivers
Hard Drive: 2.9GB of uncompressed free hard disk space (plus 500MB for Windows® swap file)
Video Card: 3D hardware Accelerator Card Required - 100% DirectX® 9.0b compatible 64MB Hardware Accelerated video card and the latest drivers*.

    Recommended:

    Nothing. That portion was blank.

Here's a bit more specific video card info, gleaned from the main description of the game.

    * 3D hardware Accelerator Card Required - 100% DirectX® 9.0b compatible 64MB Hardware Accelerated video card and the latest drivers*.
    ATI® Radeon 7200
    ATI® Radeon 8500
    ATI® Radeon 9000
    ATI® Radeon 9500
    ATI® Radeon 9600
    ATI® Radeon 9700
    ATI® Radeon 9800
All Nvidia® GeForce 2 and higher

    * Important Note: *Some 3D accelerator cards with the chipsets listed here may not be compatible with the 3D acceleration features utilized by Rome: Total War™. Please refer to your hardware manufacturer for 100% DirectX 9.0b compatibility.

    * Multiplayer Requirements:
    - Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported.
    - Internet play requires broadband connection and latest drivers.
    - LAN play requires network interface card and latest drivers.

Hmm, my current computer seems to be almost exactly what the minimun requirements are.

But I'm planning on buying a new comp anyway. These things get old so fast.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

I've had my computer since 2001, it might run RTW decently - but I don't know if Medium or Minimum detail will do - I want to see it in all the glory
