Thread: Hello .Org!

  1. #1

    Default Hello .Org!

Hello Totalwar.org! I'm Greg, and, well, quite a few users around here know me from the .com forums, I'm sure, and are probably saying "Oh no, he found us!" ~:p

I just wanted to post this to see who all I DO know around here respondes to this, and who I can meet from over here in the Meantime:D I registered once quite a while back, but didn't start posting until the temporary forums were up.

It seems my account was lost then, so now my past handful of posts are listed as "guest" posts...

I'd like to say hi to the MOD's, because I'll probably talk to you more than once around here, I'm sure!

I also must say, I like this new range of Emoticons, and the ability to Italicize my words, now! Whoo hoo! For all of those who don't know me, I'm a 15 year old freak, spending too much time online or with my nose in books about Ancient Warfare...:\

I also collect armor and weapons, and stuff to the same extent, and am currently working on both a Bronze Age suit of armor, and a Bronze Age MOD for Rome: Total War (although I'm dreading it may not work out to well, and instead going into Medieval for it). I just started that about a week ago... I'd like to get active with the HTW BA MOD, but, well, I can't post in their threads yet, so I just get to be nervous about when I will finally be able too... *Kinda' like waiting for a really neat sword in the mail, and you've tracked it across the world via Fedex tracking system, and it's about 20 miles away, finally, and you're waiting at the window...*

    Yeah, kinda' like that.

('Er, by the way, if you're interested in my MOD idea's progress, go... here.
    http://s4.invisionfree.com/AOH/ .)

Well, Once again, hello everyone, Moderators, and, well, every person I already know:D

    And now, bye.

It's not nearly as tight atmosphere here as over the dotcom, but you're expected to be nice, other than that, you'r free to discuss interesting topics, as opposed to dotcom where only allowed topics were those "what is your favourite pasta" topics.

I'm havin' problems... I don't seem to be able to edit any of my posts. The posting rules on forums I could regularly access don't allow me to edit my posts, and several, like some in the engineer's guild (which I've seen Jr. Member's posts in) won't even let me post.

    What could be the problem?

    Thanks..!

You're still a 'Junior Patron', Greg. You've got to wait to be promoted before you can edit your posts.

    That's the problem...

I WAS Jr. Member. I posted/edited several times in the HTW forum, made a thread in the Alchemist lab/edited a post in it, and had "Junior member" above my name. But now, like several other users I've seen complaining, I've been kicked back to being a Junior Patron, for some reason..!

Hello Gregorius. I'm glad you found your way over to us...except for this name thingy.

Anyway, have a little patience. Tosa is trying to address quite a few issues that have cropped up. It is a new forum with different tools, methods, etc, plus trying to address the issues brought about in converting the old forum's database to the new one.

We don't have "Junior Members" anymore, they are just known as "Members" these days. I also didn't see your name in the promotion thread stickied at the top of this forum. Did you start your own posts in the Alchemist lab forum in the temp forums we had the last week or so or in the original version? I suspect there are some problems with member levels and their permissions in each forum. Don't feel bad, some of our staff have had similar problems (try moderating with no moderator powers! )

Welcome, and it is good to see some .com people coming over, I never got the appeal of that place, to me this whole site and forum is far superior. Anyway you will find me in the Tavern drinking away, feel free to step in and have a chat we are all nice and friendly over there - - and welcome new faces. *shamelessly plugs*

@Gregoshi. I've got it all worked out. Admin said that there were problems with the system when the new forums were put up, so some Junior Patrons got Member powers, but that's been reworked now. I just hope I EARN the right to be a Senior Patron soon enough, so I can continue talking to the people over at the HTW pages:D

Ha! I'd rather not make it into a race...:\ So Maeda, been lookin' into any MOD projects you want to help with lately?

I got a question for you. Yesterday I was about to purchase a full set of the original Robotech Macross series, on DVD... The whole thing was only about $60 USD, although it was in English... Is this not something I want, and do you think I'd enjoy subtitles more? (I have full series with subtitles, and I regularly don't mind them at all, except when they aren't synchronized, which is a problem I've encountered..

*Actaully, come to think of it, since they're DVD's, they might have the Japanese language capabilities...* Hmmmmmmmmmm...

No updates on the China mod at the Dungeon. Maybe waiting for RTW to come about before deciding on it. Besides, my semester is starting next week, far less time for anything other than college work.

Ah, Robotech is different from Macross. Robotech consists of 3 otherwise unrelated series being heavily edited to fit together. Macross was used to create the first section of Robotech.

Being a Macross fan, I do not like Robotech (ok, thats an understatement). Reasons:

    1. Storyline was somewhat changed. Premise of the series was radically edited.
    2. Characters were altered considerably.
    3. The english songs were completely terrible. The original Japanese were very popular actually. The voice actress of Minmei not only did the voice but also sang all of them.

Finally, if its Robotech, its a dub (and complete makeover) without any japanese dialogues. If its Macross, its a sub with no dub available (not that I care about dubs anyway, since I hate dubs.)

There are a few animation fans in the fora here.

I really have no interest in that one Caesar, sorry:\ It looks rather dull, as BKB's MOD really goes to the extreme on Medieval era tactics, and Two Crowns will easily be master of later Medieval tactics, with Napoleonic being the best of it's era... So, I wouldn't play Citadel for that reason.

I was just askin' Maeda what MOD's he was interested in at the time being, that's all:D I've currently got my own MOD project (Age of Heroes: TW) and the link to my forums is at the top of this page... I'm also currently waiting for Komnino's response on me askin' if I could help with the HTW Bronze Age MOD, which I hope to God I'll be able to get in on

I need a map made for my Age of Heroes MOD, and I need some good BIF unit makers as well (and people who can write the stats well), and people who know how to create faction symbols, faction stack peices, and miscellaneous stuff like that. I can do most of the Starpos stuff, I suppose, although I have yet to create a new faction SUCCESSFULLY.

But my first installment of the game (which I've decided I'm gonna' do for Medieval) will only have about 8 factions, so it won't be too hard

    Cheers!

Well, Is the series of Robotech that's titled something along the lines of "The Macross Saga" no good, then? The art looked just like DYRL, so I figured it was rather the same thing... Lemme' know what you think!

    Back @ Caesar.

I got your messege, and replied, but just in case if you read this first, I WOULD be interested in helping make up your units, although I definitely can't help with the BIF stuff myself... Sorry!

Look for Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, not Robotech (Macross Saga).
