Thread: In need of a tiny bit of help

Default In need of a tiny bit of help

Just need a little bit of help. I'd like to know which provinces the Golden Horde invade when they first appear in 1230, i.e., which provinces all their stacks turn up in. I'm pretty sure one of them is Khazar but are there any others? Are they always the same provinces? Thanks in advance. I'm sure some of you probably feel this is quite a newbie question, but I've done a search on the forums and couldn't find anything on it, sorry.

I'm playing the Turks and need to make *ahem* preparations to greet them. ~:p

    It's random.
I can't say for sure Khazar is _always_ one of them, but it certainly seems very frequent.
The number of the regions being attacked and which they are is random. I've checked this by reloading the previous year.
Other favoured provinces are Georgia, Trebizond, Crimea, and Armenia (even though it does not border Khazar).

Volga Bulgaria (the one north from Khazar) is also high on the Golden Horde's list in 1230.

Never seen them turn up more south then Armenia.

    always khazar.

voulgabulg and georgia with high probability

armenia only if loyalty isn't 200%

    nowhere else

i have to contradict you here, K. I've had Armenia invaded with 200%. Maybe it was a one-in-a-1000 fluke or something, but I sure had 200% loyalty and 100% muslims.

    ok. never happened to me.

However, I think we can conclude that the probability is higher if loyalty is less than 200.

Sometimes the rebellions in that area become loyal to the golden horde too.
Khazar is the main province for the mongol invasion (mostly about 12000 men invading) and in the games I played, Armenia (about 4000 invaders) was a good second.

Alright, thanks everyone. Looking at my empire as it stands, I should be able to keep my border provinces to a minimum as long as they don't enter Armenia. I'll get their loyalty high and hope hard. Never faced the Horde before, I'm looking forward to it. (And preparing large numbers of stacks to be sure )

Talking Re: In need of a tiny bit of help

going to give away a little secret known only to the modders that pay close attention to posts by ECS

Khazar is HardCoded as the Primary GH invasion point,
    GH will always invade Khazar

and a little side note for any hardcore modder reading,
it is the "hidden" province name GH are invading, But the province name displayed can be different to the "hidden name" (modders will know what i mean).
thus you can substitue another faction for GH (providing you assign that faction to the GH faction number) and "move" Khazar and change the display name and get an invasion to occur.

theoretically you could "move" khazaar to scotland, change GH to be "Scots" and come 1230 you will get a massive "Scots" revolt !!!
(it's not quite as simple as all that, but that is how it works, in a nutshell)
    cheers,
    B.
