    512 megabytes of memory.
Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
Radeon 9700 or an nVidia GeForce4 ti4600 graphics card or better.
    5.1 surround sound audio

Yes, got the Radeon 9700 last year thinking it would be high-end for a good while at least.... HA! I'd be surprised if I don't have to replace it before 2006 rolls around.

I'll probably be upgrading my memory to 512MB and get a Radeon 9800 128MB. It's a good job I checked the other day otherwise I'd have bought the game and wouldn't have been able to play it! These upgrades should be good for Half-Life 2 and Rome Total War. Typical, you wait ages for a decent game to be released and three come along all that once! (Four if you count Crusader Kings, which I will probably get considering it's quite cheap.)

You know, hate to dissapoint you, but it won't be running perfectly even on that "recommended" setup. Sorry.
Almost everyone I know has it, I didn't want it, I'm not into those "bazooka-catch-me-if-you-can" types.
I'd have 768 or 1024 memory and 9800pro or xt for truly enjoyable experience. Surprisingly, the graphics card and memory together make over 70% of performance, I mean, it works fine on 1.6ghz duron! so long you got decent card and memory.

Don't ever buy computer ready packages, unless you can afford the most expensive one, since they never have enough money, and make you pay for nothing.
I never understood how they can have like 2.7 ghz machines with only 256 or 512 ram and a POS card. Maybe they don't realize games don't work well on it...

Oh, and remember to always have all your ram blocks from same manufacturer, and same memory frequence, and preferably same size.

I'll just have to see how it goes then if what you say is true. Memory is so cheap these days so it won't be a problem to get more.

It's always worth checking out each game, check how the different settings work and so on. Mostly you find a simple setting that is not even visible in the game, but can make the difference between having to buy more ram or not.
Usually a good memory block of 256 ddr 333mhz ram is around 60€, can be little more or less, depending on shop and manufacturer. When you're buying new hardware, always keep an eye on how easy it is to upgrade. I tend to choose cheap motherboards that have 4 ram slots and preferably several pci sockets. Also 6 usb, with 2 in the front is just joy. So long you can find a 35€ case with those 2 extra usb in front, and a mobo that supports that feature. Sure, you have to read a handbook, sure, it sounds like impossible thing to do, but it really isn't. The learning curve may be quite steep in the beginning, but once you get over the basics, it's easy.

Does anyone know what the requirements for RTW will be? If not then at least what do you reckon they will be?

Pardon me kind sir but if you take the time to browse through this forum you will see that the threads cover a wide spectrum of subjects, including discussions about Ferraris etc. I don't see any objections from the moderators concerning this thread.
