    Default Marius' reforms

I have looked and looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find a straight answer, if there even is one at this point. How are the reforms of Marius going to be implemented in the game? Do you have to achieve a certain size or level of technology, or will it just happen like chivarly in MTW? I hope, though i know it wont happen, that when the reforms occure, your legionaries automaticly change to early cohorts. The reason I hope for this is that it may be a huge drag to have to rebuild your whole army over again, escpecialy if you are a large empire. Just checking to see if anyone knows the answers.

Here's how it will work. You're marching along w/ Principes, Hastati and Triarii - you hit End Turn around 106 BC and - POOF - all of sudden you have early legionary cohorts.

    ...actually I have no idea.

...and it is a good question.

For the event to occur some building requirements have to be met, ie. military acadamy et. al.
Then on a certain date, after you hit end turn a pop up appears telling you that Gaius Marius has developed a set of new strategies and they are ready for use.
You can then, in the same or a new building recruit the 'cohorts' of 100 men

    Is my guess

It has been stated on the .com site that the reforms will not happen on a set date so that players cannot gear up to take advantage of the situation.I imagine it will be triggered by a series of other factors and events happening first. Also i am pretty sure that the units will not automatically turn into early cohorts. How realistic would that be? ~:p

You would simply overpower the other factions if you have stacks of early legionnares... ~:p

You should have them reequiped. This was what the reform meant: the soldiers were receiving standardised equipment and were instructed all for the same task.

One thing is Roman Legionaries trained after the Marian Reforms will be able to use the Testudo formation (classic turtle formation) according to the official FAQ.
