Mind Rugby was in one of the olympic games a while back, but got dropped straight after. But re-introducing it would be a very good way to raise awareness of the sport in other countries.

Also, why don't we introduce a five-day test cricket tournament?

There is already an all British team, its called the Lions! They are Touring to New Zealand next summer. I think sevens is better for the Olympics as it is a bit of a leveller as far as the teams go and also its easier to watch for people who dont understand the full union rules.

Olympic Trivia: Who are the reigning Olyimpc Rugby Champions??

Clue: it is not who you'd expect it to be!

Do you mean a seperate test Cricket tournament or one at the Olympics? a 5 day a match tournament would be some marathon event. Twenety20 cricket would make a great olympic event!!

Because Australia would win and they are big headed enough about the olympics anyway. Although it would be fun to baffle Americans.

Yeah, I know about the Lions, it should be an excellent tour this summer, but it includes Ireland, who are a separate country in olympic terms, so the UK team could only draw players from England, Wales, Scotland and Irish players from Ulster (who I think are relatively few in number) so it'd basically be a team made up of English and Welshmen.

I believe the reigning olympic Rugger champions are the USA if my memory serves me.

And I suggested that five day test cricket should be in the olympics as a bit of a joke, but you're right Twenty20 cricket would be very good for an olympic event. I mean baseball's played in the olympics, why not cricket? I'd wager more countries played cricket as a national sport than play baseball...

Yup it is the USA aparrenty it all kicked off into a massive brawl and they never played Rugby at the Olympics again.

I did think the 5 day cricket was a joke but had to make sure and i compleatly agree about more countries playing Cricket than Baseball, for a start there is no Baseball world cup!

he he My Irish Relatives would not be impressed with me Forgetting that they are not part of Britain!!

All the sports where the olympics is anything but the height of the sport. Sports like football, tennis, basketball etc. All these sports have other pinnicles the olympics is not it, half of the teams are a joke compared to what their country could put forward. So I think they are pretty useless, and should be got rid of.

I agree, the Olympics should be the best of the best, as is the case in many olympic events but the others which are not the full representitive sides of a country should not be allowed. Football and Basketball are examples of events where the teams representing some countries are a long way away from the best side those countries could field.

Althought a lot of the big names in tennis are compeating, Ferderer and Roddick are there for sure.

Yea, but tennis 'pros' compete for prize money and gain income from sponsorship.

Pro footballers and such earn a wage which makes them 'technically' professionals.

Good tennis players can enter coz if they dont win at their sport, they dont get anything.

And you already have the world cup for various sports. If you include them, not many would bother watching anything else.
