I have to say that the most disturbing scene in a movie is the Man Rape in Deliverance.

That delivarance scene is nasty
Here are mine:
1/ The spiderwalk down the stairs from the exorcist
2/The family dinner from Texas chainsaw massacre
3/ The whole family being murdered in Man bites dog
4/ The male rape scene from Scum (totally brutal)
5/ The death of lennie played by jaime foreman despatched by the great paul bettany in Gangster Number 1
6/ The woman being raped by robert de niro in once upon a time in america
7/ The russian roulette in vietman in the deer hunter
8/ The death of the poor con Del in the green mile (the nasty prison guard doesn't put a watered sponge on his head and his death is horrific)
9/ The head in a vice scene in Casino, that is nasty, his eye pops out man!![]()
10/ The whipping of Jesus in The passion, god was that brutal
Also i hate john c reilly character stevie, from state of Grace when he gets his throat slit by ed harris and one of his goons, god its horrible man and the little vampire boy who flys and tries to get into his friends window in Salems lot. Christ man that makes you want to pull the curtains at night![]()

I tend to stay away from horror movies (yeah, I'm a wimp). One really distirbing movie on the whole was Apocolapse Now. The whole end was very disturbing.
"But if you should fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home."
Grateful Dead, "Ripple"
Oh and the Orgy scene at the end of 'Society' - unforgettable!
The scene in American History X (I think) where the main bloke kicks the back of the guys head when he's got the pavement inbetween his teeth.
Also in Resevior dogs where Mr Blonde cuts off the cops ear while listening to Stuck in the middle with you.
The scene in We Were Soldiers where they try to lift a mortarmen wounded by napalm, and the flesh peels off his legs.![]()
The rape scene from Irriversible, man that was grim.
Oh, yea, most definitely. I couldn't help closing my eyes. My "favourite" uhm. *shudders*Originally Posted by The Tuffen

yeah SAW seams... scarry to say the least...
but has anyone seen Switchblade Romance?... french movie, now THATS a movie with some really disturbing scenes. It shows everything... how a man slits a womans throut open, and a how someone rams a "chansawlike machine" in to the stomach of a man... and it doesnt cut to another angle or anything... you get to see it all![]()
... enough blood in that movie to compete with Braindead (wich is the best splatter-movie ever done!)
Although the 'hack and slash' movies are not my taste, I know they appeal to a large audience.
Please remember that those movies are always rated "R" (restricted), and that this board is rated "PG-13" (and that we have 10-year olds registered), when writing your descriptions. Thanks.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
Some of the scenes in Sleepers are disturbing, that scene when they are taken down into the lower levels is so sickenening to watch. Great film though
So far, most of you posted "bloody" or "gory" scenes.
Not disturbing.
Now, "Blue Velvet" is one of favourite films and at the same time
one of the most disturbing films. It makes me feel uneasy. It's eery.
If I would meet Dennis Hopper asking me "What's up neighbour? Ready for a tour?", I would just drop dead.
"Wag the Dog" is another superb movie. The paralells to real life make it disturbing for me.
If you want funny/ memorable killing scenes then it's Tarantino for me.
Travolta shooting the guy on the backseat in Pulp Fiction, De Niro shooting Bridget(?) Fonda in Jacky Brown etc.

Yeah, the Jesus scene from Passion was disturbing. The whole movie was disturbing in an enlightening sort of way. But any man-rape is disturbing.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Amazing film but even i flinch when he smothers the boy with the pillow....harsh stuff indeed![]()
If we are using 'I cant watch it' as our yard stick for disturbing how about that scene in Swingers where the guy calls lthe girl over and over again. That's so painful to watch I have to get up and leave.

Hs anyone seen a film called happiness? The scene when the paedophile father lures his sons 10 year old friend into his room is horrific, it isn't graphic but its what you don't see that makes it scary
Starting at No 5 and working my way down most disturbing scenes would be these.
No 5 Anything to do with the latest star wars incarnations. Lucas is so obviously dark side what with the hype and marketing machine not so much a disturbing scene as a whole ethos of grab the loot.
No 4 When they find the baby in trainspotting
No 3 The lack of emotion in shindlers list by the man in charge of the camp (the rifle scene)
No 2 Any scene in event horizon
No 1 Deliverence need I say more
They slew him with poison afaid to meet him with the steel
a gallant son of eireann was Owen Roe o'Neill.

The Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan. I saw an 10am showing of that film on a beautiful summers day in Australia and it ruined my day. I hardly spoke the rest of the day, I just sat on the couch thinking about what I had seen.
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Man Bites Dog-- I can't even think of a particular scene. The whole movie is just very, very disturbing, and at the same time fascinating.

Hands down, the "California Smile" scene from American History X.
The mere thought of it is still enough to make me grit my teeth. Although you've all named some intense film moments, nothing disturbed me like that did. By comparison, the D-Day scene in Private Ryan was merely "exhilirating".![]()
