the required space on the harddrive will be significantly larger, as the 300 mb is for the demo, I imagine around 1.2 gb for the real game.

True, but everything else should stay pretty much the same. I'm just happy that my system has twice the required cpu, ram and grapics card requirements. There may be hope for decent graphics afterall!

I think its fair to say that there is no way on Gods green Earth that my PC will run RTW

I have 1.05 gig processor, 512 MB RAM and................

    wait for it.................

a 64MB Kyro II graphics card

And whilst I don't like criticising CA, clearly they've been lying all along with their "if it runs MTW it will run RTW" line - not that I ever believed them.

And I've never seen a game yet that is actually playable on the supposed minimum specs

Ah well, looks like I'll be getting NHL2005 on Xbox for my birthday and not RTW

omg, you can at least try it. You meet the min req, so if it doesnt run you can always hand it in with that comment, that it shouldve ran on my sys etc.

i have a notebook with 32 MB card. (MTW works on it)
    i've already preordered too.
it;s imposible to upgrade a notebook, i have to buy a new one.
i;ll see if the demo works.
if not, then i guess i will have to cancel my preorder.
(i just hope it;s not like MTW, were the demo worked on my old notebook, but not the game. the hell it;s the only reason i baugh this one) i'm not going to blow another $1,500 on a game.
    oh, what a sad day.

Why would the English version of Windows be specifically required

    no place for a pc.
i was hoping, as Mount Suribachi said
we were told that if MTW works RTW will work.

Yup, that's what they told us, but come on, just look at the two games! It was quite obvious that the requirements for RTW would be far higher than those for MTW in the graphics department alone!

As to the specs themselves: Well, looks like my 32 MB videocard isn't adequate after all, so I'll have to spend some money upgrading my machine. I intend to buy a new 128 MB videocard plus 256 MB of RAM bringing it up to 512. That will still leave me with a PIII 1000 Mhz processor, but if I have to upgrade that I'll also have to replace my motherboard and that's simply too much money to spend in one go. I'll just hope that my processor will not slow the game down too much, but I have good hopes that it won't. RAM is the most important component for a good videogame performance anyway.

I dunno, if it will work on my system, Im not this big person who knows ka-pooey about computers, I think mine might have a chance, I dont care if im zoomed in far enough to see peoples faces, heck, I'd be happy if I could play the camp map and only the smaller battles I guess, untill I get a upgrade, tell me what you guys think

    Windows 98 ( Windows 98, Version 4.10, build 2222

200mb of ram ( probably is good)

    Pentium 3... 500 mhz....
X52 MAX Cd rom drive (heh heh heh)
    Direct X9.0

    Mouse,
    Keyboard,
    Speakers,

    Radion 9000, 64mb graphics card,

Well, how does this sound, I don't really want to fight the battles with "large" or "Huge" settings and can live without "Medium" and play with default...

    Please someone?

    come on guys, don't fret.
The minimum reqs don't mean a thing, and you should know it by now.
There are major differences in performance depending on the settings you use; for MTW it was a great deal of difference, and I expect RTW to be at least as customizable (resolution, unit size, quality of video/audio/etc). People have reported running MTW on really crappy systems; reducing sound quality alone made a huge difference, and they could even play MP in 8.
So while you may not be able to run the game on the maximum settings, I'd wait until I installed it and messed with the settings, and then claim that it's running or not.

Think about it: how many of you were able to tell the difference (by ear, I mean) between medium and high quality sound in MTW ?...

Edit: to check the specs on your pc, if you're running windows, you can always use c:\program files\directx\dxsetup.
It will tell you all you need to know. There are ofc other ways.

Not much at all really, I think almost any system with a graphics card thats okay, and good ram, can run this game fairly well, maybe Fishy pants will show up and tell us what we can turn off and on and so on to inprove the game.

    oh, what a sad day.
I've got a notebook with 32MB too, an Ati Mobility M6... however, despite this it is able to rungames like UT2004(Well), Doom3(Albeit at 10fps) and RavenShield(With a bit of Mouse lag), which all either requier 64MB and/or T&L, of which my card has neither.

Maybe it's because of the OmegaDrivers that i'm using. The only game i've come across that will refuse to run on it period is homeworld 2. I'm hoping it'll run Rome tho. As a last resort i'll have to fiddle with 3dAnalyse...

Plus I predict that the required HDD space will be 2-3GB, Medieval itself is nearly 2..

Thanks for that, i didnt know that. It appears that the only problem im going to have is the graphics card which i suppose i can upgrade if i have to, need money....

The English version of Windows? Oh dear...

I've never actually seen a game specify a specific language install of the OS. Anyone have any idea why they'd require this?

Hmmm, if you can play the english version of MTW you should be fine regarding the language issue. I just checked the back of my MTW copy and it has the same requirements about an English Windows version. So if you can play MTW everything should be fine.

    Important videocard question!

Alright, I checked my motherboard and it has 1 AGP 4x slot. Now, my question is this: Can I put a videocard with an AGP 8x interface in that slot, or am I restricted to cards with 4x interface only? Can't find anything about on the web, so that's why I ask it here. I don't want to buy a useless videocard, though I would consider a minor performance loss (if that would be the only sideeffect) to be acceptable, since upgrading from a 32 MB card to a 128 mb card would be a marked improvement anyway.

I'm almost positive that you can; of course, only at most 4X AGP will be used (or whatever your stuff supports: 1x, 2x).

Yes, I've run 8x AGP cards in a 4x slot... though you might want to be 100% sure and check with the mobo manufacturer to make sure they don't list the card you have in mind as a no-go.

At work they bought HP systems that have AGP 8x slots but they don't boot with ATI cards above the Radeon 7500, nor nVidia cards of the same caliber. Nice feature, that. I asked HP and they said, "Too Bad, you shouldn't be playing games at work anyway".

It doesn't require it. Some games "require" a Pentium processor or Geforce card and still they work on AMD and Radeon

    And that's for playing a 1v1 Demo...

I guess we'll need to be much better than that for 4v4 MP games; I hope ther will be at least 8 players meeting those requirements :(
