yes; on an integrated intel video card (64MB, but remember it's integrated on the motherboard).
it's fine.
the video/audio/etc stuff is highly customizable, and it runs fine in 800x600x32bpp
Therapy helps, but screaming obscenities is cheaper.
I meet everything except my 500mhz processer... But I think if I turn things down and stuff, It should run, they probably tested what you need at the least to run 8 armies on one battle field, which never happens in campains

I ran the demo on my laptop first, which is a 1.4 machine with integ video and Graphics card. The demo ran fine, failry quick.
BUT I DIDNT install direct X, so if was a bit choppy with graphics, but the sped was fine and very smooth![]()

The Original HHHHHOWLLLLLLLLLLLLER
Im a Wolves fan, get me out of here......
played it with a PIII 1000 Mhz, 256 MB RAM and a 32 MB videocard. I finished the tutorial, though it was choppy as h*ll even at the lowest settings (I even got a message saying my HD was full, only 16 MB left out of the 600 I should've had after installing the demo!). When I tried Trebia the game crashed to desktop during the intro. I'm getting a new videocard today, so I'll send you an update when I've installed the new card. :)
I tried it on this PC...
Medion Laptop ---
Pentium IV 2.0GHz
512MB Ram
32MB Graphics card (Ati Mobility M6 w/ OmegaDrivers)
The game is very playable on my computer on low settings (yay :)), goes a little choppy in the scene with the whole roman army running over the river, but a steady fps otherwise
Anyone whit a 56k modem attempted to download it? If so how long did it take and were you successful?

Just had a go on my work machine... 2GHz P4 with 500MB RAM and an intergrated Intel(R) 82845G 64MB Graphics Controller.. Set to default 800x600 32bit and no fancy options it was just about playable, quite choppy in the big battle, but definately playable...
Can't wait to get home and get it on my AthlonXP 2600+ with 1GB RAM and my lovely new GeForce 6800GT and Audigy 2 ZS....![]()

Sigh...
POOR specs, not P4 2GHZ machines,
Oh well, I now need to get a new motherboard, A new processer, a gig of ram, new speakers maybe, and maybe a better video card

Is this poor enough:
Compaq Presario 1525
P4 2.4 Ghz
512MB RAM
Directx 9.0
XP Home
32MB Graphics card - ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
I ran the demo, kept getting error message:
until I cranked down the video settings REALLY low.Insufficient video memory to load requested texture set
And it still wasn't pretty. On the tutorial, there were patches of grass that reflected the sky () and some units kept dissapearing, especially the Roman archers. Sometimes either the horses or riders would disapear as well. The Roman general never appeared colored in, and sometimes the other units didn't, either.
The Trebia battle was terrible. Everything was spazzing out, and it looked like there were soldiers everywhere (was there too much detail like trees and soldiers, maybe?) and I just couldn't bring myself to play it (I did make my elephants charge suicidally; none survived).
I need a new graphics card. Can that be done on a laptop?

I'm on the lower end, but just about within specs:
Athlon 1.3GHz, GEForce3 64MB, plenty of RAM.
Ran like a dream to be honest, I'm actually playing it with all settings to maximum apart from anti-aliasing off, 1280x1024 resolution. It goes at about 10fps during the Trebia fly-over of the armies, but at least 30fps all through the battle, only really notice slowdown when moving the camera quickly over lots of units and scrolling side to side at the same time.
In conclusion, the game certainly runs fine at minimum spec, I imagine if you have less than 64MB video memory you'll need to turn down the detail, lower processor you'll need to watch unit numbers etc.
Edit: I've installed a new graphics card in a laptop before, but you probably can't do it with all models and you'll likely have to go to manufacturer (or eBay in my case) to get the part.

Do you think a P3 500mhz can cut it with options turned down, untill I get an upgrade, Januaryish?

I got it to work with my 32 mb card...800X600X32 with the details turned up...
Make sure to get the latest drivers. That is what was wrong with my computer before. Now everything is fine.![]()

I have a decent spec machine except for the video card:
2.6 MHz
768 Mb memory
Geforce 4 MX 440
I was surprised how well it displayed, even with most video options turned up to medium or high (note that the default settings are pretty awful, no spears for Poeni phalanx and legs tapering to a point without any feet!). Double clicking on a unit's box caused some stuttering/jumping as the camera moved to the unit but I can live with that. A little delay when the battle was fiercest but nothing awful.
Bigger unit sizes and max 20 unit battles when the game comes out might change my mind but I think I'll stick with the Geforce 4 for now, when I was expecting to have to upgrade.
The speed of battles and "arcade feel" are damn annoying though, but that's for another thread...
Just for fun I tried it on a Radeon 7000 (64 MB RAM). Wow, talk about ghosting! Every moment there were at least five copies of every single man in every single unit, VRAM not keeping up with the bits apparently.
Led me to the question, "Which general should I select?"![]()

Can someone just answer my question!
Is it possible for 500mhz to cut it?

I'm guessing here, but I'd be extremely surprised if it ran smoothly...
That said, I really think your RAM and your video card are the more important factors. I'd give a fighting chance to a 500 mhz machine with 512 Mb of RAM and a fast card (Radeon 8500+, gForce 4 (not mx)+), but it'd be pushing your luck.

I turned down all video settings to low, or the lowest; anti-aliasing off.
All things considered, it wasn't too bad at all.
I've only played the first part of the Tutorial so far.
Sure, the graphics weren't as crisp as they could be, but the "choppiness" wasn't as bad as I expected.
Things seemed to move along pretty smoothly; sound was good too.
The loading time was abit long, but not a "game-breaker".

Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
My computer is a laptop. I got my driver from the manufacturer (Compaq). I know for a fact that ATI does not offer drivers for laptop cards (Mobility type). If you have a laptop, go to the manufacturer. I have no idea what to do if you have a PC but can't get a driver for your ATI card. Maybe it is too old? If so, you could look for "Omega drivers" - heard about them but couldn't find them. Supposedly they are drivers for cards without recent drivers made by the manufacturer and are optimized for games. But I don't know for sure.we have the same notebook. i have the same problem, where did you get your driver? ati site doesn't have it

Part 2 of my demo experience, this time with a shiny new Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB videocard and with another 256 MB of RAM added (making a grand total of 512 MB).
Demo ran smooth as a babies' bottom during the tutorial. I experienced some minor choppyness during Trebia when the camera panned in on the Roman army crossing the river. All in all I can say the game is quite playable with these settings.
If you're experimenting with running the demo at below minimum spec, you'll want to make sure your AGP aperture is set high enough - at least 64 mb and more if you have enough RAM and your motherboard allows it. This can make a surprisingly large difference ;)

AGP... I know this has something to do with ram, I have no idea how to change it...
Shine some light on this please?
Also do you know how you tested the specs, did you see what the minimum was to have 8 armies on the field?
Will the specs be the same for the full game?
And did you turn everything down to low to test this out?
Did you test what you need to be zoomed in so far to see the soliers teeth and eyes?
All these questions would be greatly apprciated :)

This gives me hope, although I don't know how much ram you have, I have a 64 MB video card, and 200 ram...

This also makes me a happy panda,
I just relized, MTW it was recomended to have a 1.2GHZ... I can have 8 people with everything on High and only have the rare low FPS...
