I'll share my experience as well: I have a Pentium 733 MHz with 256MB RAM. The demo would start, but not run a battlefield scene at all. After some investigation I realized that although I had installed the latest DirectX, my graphics card did not support it. I went a bit overboard buying a new graphics card (GeForce 5200 256MB) and it now runs fine. If anything, its smoother than M:TW was on the old graphics card. I'm very happy that I've managed to probably get another couple of years grace before upgrading, especially since I'm starting to only really use my Windows machine for games, and R:TW is the only graphics-heavy game I've been interested in lately. I'm also amused by the fact that the graphics card is almost as smart as the CPU, so my PC is like a brontosaurus with a second brain in its backside.

I got the demo on the front of PC Gamer here in the UK. I did start downloading it on my 512K modem, but the download time would have been about 7-8 hours.
