1)Yeah, or use Spybot Search and Destroy. Hijack This is good for specific cases that the other programs can't remove.

2), 3) Unless they really improved Gordian Knot, I have to say that it sucks a**. www.doom9.net (home of gordian knot and much better progs) lists all sorts of cool and "legal" stuff you can do to "backup" your DVD's

    thanks everyone

but here is the deal - i just got a new computer and one of the main reasons i got it(aside from new wargames) is to backupo my dvds in smaller formats

what im trying to do as an example:

    1. Take band of brothers box set
2.rip each episode to my hard drive
2.compress each file into .avi so that they are about 500mb each
3.Burn as many episodes as possible onto as few dual layer dvds as possible

so pretty much i need a program that does all of that (plus or minus the burning) - ripping into a format i can do something with, compressing into a small avi file

You may want to look for a program named
"DVD Shrink". It should be all you need.
As far as I know there are some legal issues about it...
    But it copies everything...

You may want to ask questions like this in the Apothecary in future.
