While waiting for the "heavy cavalry" to give you solid info, here's if you
have downloaded the Readbif tool and have a BMP ready in say Paint Shop:
NEW BIFS WITH READBIF
I'm (still) making all the bifs with Readbif. BMPtoBIF: Open Readbif window /
File...new BIF / File...Import Frame from BMP / File...Save BIF / Close before
next bif (!!!). Really fast if using default file names and folders BIFtoBMPtoBIF.
Remember to edit BMP palette index 0 to transp. (0,128,0) in Paint Shop.
NOTE ON READBIF BLACKSPOTS:
Black spots (pixels) will occur in 1 and 2 pixel transparent gaps, unless the
transparent gap is the leftmost pixels. So check for bad gaps and modify:
- Increase a transparent gap to 3 pixels, or remove it.
or
- Use an identical colour for 3 pixels before the gap (or 2 after transp. pixels).
Small shields: Enter 17 (not 18) as the new bif width, to simplify re-colouring.
ALSO
Read every sticky written by Lysander and see if you prefer the Seqgrab tool.

(Hopefully this wasn’t beside the point, I’m leaving tomorrow for a month)
