From MP view the answer is quite simple...the vast majority are either too lazy or uninterested to download and play Mods. This has been my experience in STW and MTW and I somehow doubt things will change.

With regards SP, I do believe there were quite a few very good Mods...WesW Mod was very popular. However, seasonal end turns are far superior to annual or biannual ( if that's a word ) The campaign years don't fly by and it feels far more realistic to run ones economy depending on seasonal income/outgoings etc than to decide in one stroke your affairs for the year

    Thumbs up Re: Disenfranchisement

I agree with the first writer completily. I guess it is all part of the hype: CA has raised sky high expectations and now we find that sometimes we expected too much. Like that the game would be MTW-plus, instead of just being a totally redesigned.
(Don't mistake: the demo is far from perfect, but I just think that we should suspend our judgement about the entire game until we have actually played it.)

Modding can only go so far, so there might still be some disappointed old school TW fans when the full release comes.

Personally, I'm less than enamoured with the demo, but I hope that the full release will address my dislikes. From what I've seen and heard, the campaign game is an improvement on MTW - crossing fingers & toes that this is true - so that will be enough for me to get some fun out of the game, even if the tactical battles don't significantly differ from the demo.

I doubt that my ultimate worst case - that the campaign game will be worse than MTW - will be true, so what I see as my 'realistic' worse case is that I simply won't play many tactical battles. My best case, and what I still have confidence that CA will deliver, is that I can configure the tactical battles away from the demo's style to a more familiar MTW style, added to a campaign engine that improves on MTW, giving me many hours of great fun.
