I remember the Roman mod-that was great because it seemed to sate my impossible impatience for rtw.
The ntw mod was very good but had little to look forward to in terms of unit upgrades-mind you this was an early version.

Check the engineers' guild (The Dungeon) forum and make your own opinion, the most famous are (in no particular order) HTW, BKB's mod, XL mod, Napoleonic mod, Medmod, and many others.Originally Posted by pmaura

Check out the new BKB Super MOD. Even though it's a beta mod, it offers excellent play.

Wow,
only one mention of Hellenic Total War. HTW is excellant and METW (Middle Earth total war) is another excellant mod.

Are all these mods for online play too ? or mainly single campgain ?

Most are SP campaigns, you would have to find someone using the mod with the exact same stats to be able to play online.
I really like BKB Supermod (playing it now. Has a good unit selection and lots of factions) and the Napoleonic Mod (just fun).
