For those who just can't wait for RTW to come out, EBGames says the strat guide will be available on 9/8 for $19.99.
I'm wondering if any of the writing was done by CA?

I never use the stragedy guide, I just figure things out by meself.
Well and RTW will basically have a similar stragedy to the other total wars, but if I have the money then I'll buy it just for fun.

Command, come in. Have arrived in Venice, streets filled with water. Please advise.

SeveredSoul, he's talking about 9/14 for the strategy guide.

Obviously it would be a waste of effort to write up unit guide based on the demo, but I'm wondering, are there any efforts planned to do up a guide here in the community when the full game comes out? I'd tend to trust it far, far more...

Sounds painful. You can get a cream for it I think.Originally Posted by Mount Suribachi

Strategy guides get released earlier and earlier these days so a lot of them lack information changed or added during the final stages of game development. A lot of them also lack information just because the strategy guide publishers want to release them before or at the same time the game is released. The strategy guide for Ninja Gaiden didn't even have all 50 scarabs listed. For competitive games, the guides are useless for multiplayer and the strategies they have are already obsolete in a week or two.

The guide forum will probably end up with a lot of faction guides, the RTW main forum will get a lot of general tips etc. There will be information available on-line but there will be a delay as people buy, play and research the game.

I refuse to buy such a guide. First the manual in the game should explain the new interface, to learn the game for extra $20 is insane! Secondly, it will discuss the use of l33t head hurlerz and what not...

I'm anxious to see if you're not too disappointed in RTW to write a guide, Froggie.Originally Posted by frogbeastegg

I found that immediately attacking the Goths, wiping them from the face of the earth and seizing their rich lands far more effective.

Well ... I have a lot of other concerns right now, not least the book I am writing with an eye to chasing publishers. That doesn't leave me a lot of time to spend on writing and then maintaining a guide.Originally Posted by Doug-Thompson
However I am now at the point where, writing skill and experience wise, I could do a guide in about a week if the game grabs and holds my interest, and really fires me up. So if RTW can grab my interest I could potentially write a guide and do minimal maintenance after a few big updates. So it is all down to the game, and based on the demo I'm not convinced. But the demo is only that - a demo, and it could be that the final product makes me feel as enthusiastic as shogun did.
