    Default Demo Attack/Defense numbers invalid?

In doing some testing of three on three match ups, I am coming to the conclusion that the base attack/defense values shown in the demo mouse overs for units are not what is actually being used. For instance the Principes seem a bit weaker than the Hastati and both substantially weaker than the Triarii. However, the attack/defense values are 11/16 Principes, 11/14 Hastati, and 7/17 Triarii. Anyone else notice this? Guess I need to try roman_julii vs roman_senate to confirm the rankings. OK, that didn't work, guess I can't have them fight in the demo.

    The Hastati has 6 exp
Pricipes have 4 exp and so do Triarii

This has quite a large impact. Either lower Hastati to 4 exp or put the other two up to 6 and see what happens.

Nope, because I've changed the unit upgrades to be uniform (1 exp, 1 armour, 0 weapon). These are from mods that I'm seeing the numbers. That was the point of the post. Now it could be that the stats are a "snapshot" from some changed values as you state, but they are not what is being used in the tests I'm running. If you were right, the Triarii should do considerably worse than the Hastati when their upgrade levels are modded, instead they are considerably better.

The stats displayed on the unit selection screen could be wrong. The info doesn't change with different upgrades, so it's definitely not coming from the actual stats being used by the unit in the game. I've looked around inside the two pack files, but I can't find the base unit stats.

Triarii are spearmen and might have some kind of rank bonus..

Yes, I've considered this as well, but they seem to be fighting pretty well compared to the others even in shallower formations.

I just ran some tests with Hastati v Princepes and to me it seemed like Princepes had the advantage as they should.
