    Default Fable REVIEW

No, Im not smoking crack... Ign has a Fable REVIEW up about 3 weeks before the game comes out...

Fable scored a 9.3, I would have still bought it if it got a 2.0 however...

There are 8 pages worth of reasons to buy this game... Damnit, now I cant wait untill september...

After Black and White I ignore previews of Moleneux's (sp?) games and refuse to even hope they might live up to the hype, but Fable is sounding good, very good. I'll be able to find out if it is worth buying or not in the month long wait between the US release and the PAL release. Doing that saved me some cash with Deus Ex 2. See? PAL delays can be good, sometimes.

Since Black and White was so good, I would be looking forward to this game, save for the fact that it's for XBOX... sigh.

It looks really awesome, but I wouldn't be allowed to get it... my parents would think that my little bros would play it, and end up evil or something because it's rated M.... Mabye I'll get it after I go to college...

You could get your parents to buy you a safe, and put the game in that whenever your not playing it...

    MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    There is a GOD!!!!

The game that I have been waiting for since 1999 has finally come out in my area... I phoned my local EB Games at noon and asked if they had any copies in. They had sold out within one hour after opening the store. Disappointed, I asked when they would be getting the next shipment, they stated that it would not be before two weeks. So I sighed and reserved a copy for the next shipment.

    At 5:30 my phone rang...

Someone had ordered two copies for themselves and only took one... The store manager asked me if I was still interested in purchasing a copy. I calmly said yes, Ill come pick it up today, and bye. After I hung up the phone, I did a little dance and raced to pick up my wallet which contained my reciently aquired drivers licence...

    MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    Praise be to the lord!

    AMEN!

Im now holding the absolutely stunning dvd case in my hand and im at a loss for words... Its sureal when I realize that im holding the game that I thought would never come out...

For this day I have had a stroke of Uber luck... better stay away from dangerous situations for the next week or so...

Fable's on the x-box, so no downloadable demo, if there is one at all.

Black and White was a sub par strategy game with a badly implimented gimmick glued onto it. It had in-built unavoidable amphibian torture, namely those whinging villagers who are always demanding something. I wiped out every single person on the world and still the voice kept going "We need children" every 30 seconds. It also ran like glue on my good PC with all the settings to minimal. The spell imput was a good idea but hideous to use. The creature was so stupid I ended up with high blood pressure trying to teach it anything, even simple spells. And most criminally of all in my eyes it was boring. I can overlook a lot if a game is fun, but B&W was no fun at all.

Maybe I'm just bitter, you see I'm one of those poor fools who expected the creature AI to be semi decent, the engine astonishing (I still remember those claims about zooming in to see worms in apples), and the focus to be on the creature and wasting time in your village, not being whined at about food while trying to fight a war I wasn't even interested in.

I rather liked Black and White... Didn't really have too much trouble training my creature up to go round helping villagers - had a silly habit of watering trees pointlessly though.

My creature and I were so "good" it was disturbing. The creature had little rainbow sparkles following it, and my tower was bright shining white, with a rainbow round it...

Can't wait for Black and White 2.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
To see the worms in apples, zoom in on the granary - there's a barrel somewhere round the back of it, with an apple on top, with a worm in it

I suppose my liking of the game stems from my willingness to spend a silly amount of time on anything.
Don't have any aspirations - they're doomed to fail.

    Rumours...

Does anybody have fable? if so is it any good?

It is apparently been released today in the UK (according to game.uk.com) and was considering purchasing it.

If its not good i will just save my money for KOTOR 2.

Got fable at the weekend and have been playing it since. Its an alright game but does have some faults.

The game itself looks amazing, with lots of detail been put in it. The storys pretty good too. Unfortunataly the targeting system has a lot to be desired ie. you can target anybody in the game although when your doing an escort quest you can sometimes end up hitting the person you were escorting because of the targeting.

Also some of the spells seem to be very weak IMO.

Other than that Fable is a good game.

I have gotten warnings from others. The game is not "open-ended" and is as linear as Super Mario Bros, but not as fun. You apparantly can finish it in around 8 hours. Certainly not what rpg fanatics like myself have been waiting for. I would rent it, but I have a ps2, so i'll likely instead wait for Kotor 2 and Elder Scrolls 4.
"Sit now there, and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come to those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shall thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end". -Tolkien

You can prob complete the main quest in about 8 hours without doing any sub quest/extra missions. It is unfortunatly very linear.

KOTOR 2 will be a much better RPG than fable and if it had been released at the same time KOTOR would of been the game i picked.

Elder scrolls 4 should be an amazing game as i really enjoyed Morrowind and its expansions.
