Anyone know how the seas will be won in RTW?
Will the scheme be similar to MTW or are we in for a suprise?

It will certainly be different from MTW. From what I've seen from the trailers it seems that the fleets will work like ordinary armies, except that they move on the water. If you want to transport troops over the water, you will need to load them on board ships. I don't know how they are going to do this with emissaries e.d., though. But sea battle will still be abstracted; there won't be any 3D sea battles.

Yeah, seas... seas are better in Rome, as the ships actually carry troops rather than troops just being sent across shipping lines.

Hopefully, troops can actually be killed during sea battles. Thus the original invading army won't be at full strength. I like this alot because, you can't go port-hopping like in the past.

Make the AI build a naval blockade for even sweeter difficulty. If the player manages to survive the blockade, they will even struggle to do their first objective in the first place. You have a weakened army with no reinforcement in a foreign land, surrounded!!

Yeah it'll be sweet, but it'll be like Civ where you'd get pissed off because some ship takes out your entire invading army while they are aboard their transport!

I don't really mind this but at least sell them back to me...

from screen and info from the beta test done in Tiwan. (which were up for a bout 4 hours before they were taken down)

the sea is one huge province. no one controls it and you can go anywhere you want, as long as you don't come within battle distance of an enemy ship.

you move on it by selecting a fleet and then clicking on the destination, the course is planed by the computer. a blue and red (i believe) line represents the curse. the colors alternate, each color represents the distance the fleet will travel in a turn. (from the pics it looked like it would take 3-4 turns to get from the tip of italy to alexandria)

you need to load a strategic piece (spy, ambasador, etc) onto the ship if you want to move it.

Sounds pretty good, the sea units were a weak point of MTW, and they were so damn expensive, it does not take 3 years for the entire province of wales to build a boat!
