It's actually English English, i.e. as we use it in England. Time Commanders is an English programme. Why do *you* spell it wrong?

If it's "English English" why do you "English" usually prefer to use the non-English English version so much then? Went to bbc.co.uk and did a search on 'medieval' (3998 hits) then 'mediaeval' (373 hits and it asks 'Were you looking for "medieval"?'). Make up yer minds, eh?Originally Posted by Frankymole

I can't answer for bad spelling. I have an A-grade English A-level. The average reading comprehension age in the UK amongst adults is that of an educated 9-year old (BBC results). Spelling is worse thanks to Microsoft spellcheckers (usually defaulting to US Websters ). The game itself uses the American spelling for sales purposes. No biggie. I'm telling you that it is "Mediaeval" - meaning "Media" (middle) "Eval" (age) in English.
He's right, you know, whenver we Enlish folks press F7 we get yankie spelling. I'd never written it like mediaeval and I'm English - maybe I just suck!
Isn't it funny how people trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell?
On-topic.
Such good news! I'm really looking forward to this new Time Commanders series. Let's not get our hopes up for M:TW2 though - it's all too easy to mod the engine to support medieval battles for us to draw any conclusions yet.
And about medieval/mediaeval:
US English has dropped the 'a' in 'latin' words like gyn(a)ecologist and pr(a)etor. UK English has retained it in some words and abandonded it in others. And just to complicate matters further in their unrelenting effort to make the spelling of UK English the most absurd of all languages, it sometimes will allow both variants. In the case of medieval/mediaeval the latter is considered an accepted variant of the former, but with an archaic feel.
woohoo MTW on the rome engine rules![]()

I bet BBC Wales puts on coverage of regional football and rugby matches instead. They've pulled that stunt before![]()
I think all CA have done was to mod some of the Rome units to look more mediaeval, which presumably means that we can expect some dark age and mediaeval mods appeaing in the next few months. I would expect M:TW2 to be an expansion pack for Rome rather than a seperate game.

Not if they have some battles in wales. Preferably ones in which the welsh win.
Oh yeah and MTW2 will rule.![]()
By the way what does the princess emoction mean.
Or even medii (middle) aevii (ages) turned into an English adjective.Originally Posted by Frankymole
There are two mediaeval battles in the new series -- three if you count Belisarius as mediaeval.
Out of interest, Nus, you wouldn't happen to be connected to the series at all... and your intials wouldn't happen to be AN would they?
Just curious.

It'd be fantastic if he really was the Nus man himself! So what battles are in the new series? Sounds like we'll see many new units.
The battles are (not necessarily in the order they'll be shown):
Stamford Bridge
Hastings
Hydaspes
Teutoberger Forest
Dara
Sarmizegethusa
Cynoscephelae
Troy
Nus seems to know an awful lot about the whole programme doesn't he!Originally Posted by The Blind King of Bohemia

I can't remember the names of the military historian experts who appear every week, if that's who you meant. Care to jog my memory?

Yeah, same here. I am a lot higher in English Comprehension then most of my old classmates and you will even catch me spelling things wrong or writing with more in common of a middle schooler than a high school graduate.Originally Posted by Frankymole

Hell, my people can't even handle the Metric System - thats why we are still the only country in the world that uses Feet, Yards, ect.
