Yikes,
my apologies for side-tracking this thread into a spelling (UK vs. US vs. M$) debate with what was meant to be a humourous aside. Also my bad for forgetting that the ae bit was, in fact correct all along. Only trouble is I couldn't remember how to get the dipthong character to appear. Some fonts don't have it at all. (Goes off to double-check) Doh! Alt-0230 in Arial æ
Not my day today. (where's the sulk smiley?)
Hmm, even the smileys aren't working for me at the moment. IE is in a permanent loading page state while I type a reply and clicking the smileys fails to update the edit window.
Being totally new to MTW I was slightly taken aback by the sprite-like quality of the troops. Even though STW also uses sprites, they look convincing enough, with shine on the armour making them appear slightly 3D. The MTW ones look almost cartoon-like, by comparison. More colourful, certainly but at the cost of looking like rotating cardboard cut-outs. Early days for me though - I've not reached the stage of getting the more advanced troop types, so I'll see how things pan out.
A mediæval TC series will be well worth a watch and it would be great if a team of TW SP or multiplayer veterans could bluff their way onto a programme by expressing an interest in the show's theme but totally denying any tactical expertise, or knowledge of the game-engine, on their part :D
If the 3D is as good in RTW as it was in the TV series then I'll be very impressed. Mind you, it must demand a shipload of gfx card memory and processor power to render hundreds of copies of such a wide range of textures, not to mention the terrain on top.
I remember the show had occasional close-ups of individual troops in these units (some of which I recognise in the avatars some of use use here). Can this zoom-in be done in RTW? (or is that off-topic for here?)
If not off-topic, am I missing out on an in-battle zoom function in MTW? Given what I've said so far, it can only make unit appearances worse but if it is there, I'd like to know, all the same.
TIA,
