Unhappy Does this have a chance of running RTW?

i have a 3 year old computer, with parents who dont seem to understand the use of modern technology and new shiny $500 pieces of silicon, and a job were all my money must be saved, so i am stuck with so pretty low specs, but im hoping with some sweet talking and being the only computer literate in the house, i can get some upgrades. im not hoping for miracle awsome graphics, just enough to get by on

    motherboard-MicroStar Ms-6630 2.1 with VIA KT133 chipset
CPU-AMD Athlon thunderbird 1.1GHZ with 100mhz fsb and 200mhz bus speed
    Ram- 256 (upgrading to 768) SDRAM PC-133
    Video- Geforce 4mx 440 64mb
    cd-rom- 16x cd-rom
Integrated sound (i read that a sound card can really help performance)
    Direct x 9.0b
Windows Xp Home service pack 1

I would think so. I have 768 ram and a 32 mb card, faster processor though, and it runs just fine.

I know what you mean it's a sad fact of life, our parents just don't know about the need to upgrade

thanks for the help, if it runs on 8mb video card i have confidence in the big gray box im dling the demo now, ill see how it is without the ram upgrade so if it works now, it will work when the full game comes out!

I have a similar computer to yours. I have an Athlon TB 1Ghz and a GF3. It should play the games but l strongly recommend that you upgrade your CPU. Like my computer your processor is lagging behind. See what other AMD processors your motherboard supports and get the faster processor your motherboard can support. That will boost your performance quite a bit.
Are you also sure you are suing sd-ram? I had the impression that AMD processors work with ddr. Anyway that ram upgrade should help you a lot, too.
As always try getting the latest software. DirectX 9.0c is available and also get the latest drivers from nvidia :)
I cannot return l presume, so l stay among those who are dead by bows.

im pretty sure i have sdram, not 100% but thats what cpu-z told me, i run the demo pretty good on moderate detail, so i guess i might be set for the full version

anyone know a site were i can find a compatible processer for microstar ms-6330 motherboard?

That chipset is about 4 years old (or is it 5 now?) You are up against the wall on this one. From what I saw on the Microstar International site, it only supports 100 FSB chips. The KT133 chipset was unable to support 133 FSB chips and memory properly--although it was originally supposed to. The KT133A revision fixed this and could run 133 MHz SDRAM and 133/266 FSB processors (I have an old machine that I assembled about 3 1/2 years ago using the KT133A--it was upgradeable to an XP2100+ in the end.) Your MSI MS 6330 appears to be KT133 based. It will use 100 MHz SDRAM. It will be able to run 100/200 FSB Athlon/Duron processors. It might be able to run a 1.4 GHz 100/200 FSB, but I wouldn't waste the money on such an obsolete processor. Better to save it for a system upgrade.

From what a CA rep recently posted, RTW runs best with a lot of memory bandwidth (he prefers AMD 64's with the onboard memory controller.) 100 FSB would be very near the bare minimum.

Not sure what buying PC-133 RAM is going to do for you--although it might be easier to find now and will run fine at 100 FSB. From what I can tell the board won't run at 133 FSB.

    Sorry.

The important thing Sasaki is you've kept the original packaging, so you can return it for repairs/upgrades - but I'm not sure if you're meant to keep it IN the original packaging.

Still, you've got a nice piccy of your set up for when you advertise it for sale on eBay.
