On one hand it'd be more realistic than the actual settings because you shouldn't be able to control each unit individually, but on the other hand, I'd find it a bit boring to watch the whole battle without fighting by fear not to die.

Sign me up. Anyone played Sacrifice? It is third person strategy and it worked awesome. I love this idea it shouldn't be that hard to pull off? (this does come from someone that didn't know what a firewall is)

Agreed, at least not with the engine always progressing.
You could actually get involved in the fights, no special moves as such if puriss are getting scared, just the chance to make it more personal
Am not fully informed but the graphics look nice but to be honest all previous incarnations were rubbish even though I don't know that for sure
