I've been trying desperately to make MTW a hard game and actually provide a challenge. I feel that once you've mastered getting in the florins you can't hepl but annihilate the oposition. So I decided to intall the med-mod, I've heard lots of people say it's much more challenging than the main game.
I thought I'll try the Swedishg - they looked quite difficult and I haven't used them before. Turn one - check out the situation. It's clear that the Danes have got to go - and quick. So I beef up the army in a couple of turns and take Denmark. No problem there. The Danish king and his men fled to Norway. Very good, consolidate Denmark and - oh no - the Danes have gone after Finland! Consider Finland not to be as important as the Scandinavian peninsula so ignore it (6 years for seige to end) and head for Norway. No problems there. Although I've gopt a strong footing over the three provinces of Scandinavia, the Danes sank my boats and I've lost my means of getting back to Finland. Until, in turn7 of the game, I get a rebellion in Finland and the bloody computer decided to give me two squads of Knights Templar, two squads of Feudal Foot Knights, a squad of Feudal Sergeant Crusaders and two units of Crossbows - what gives!?!? So much for a hard game! I now have the most powerful army on the entire game board, all of the Scandinavian peninsula and ten years hasn't even passed yet! Someone just doesn't want me to be challenged by this game - roll on RTW in expert mode![]()
