Default Speed? Performance? why no clues to changes before release??

Isnt anyone else a little worried that NOTHING has been mentioned in regards to the demos performance and unit speed issues by CA?! and more importantly the changes made to these in the final release?

Ok, i will buy the game regardless... but it still seems a bit lame that people wont kno what has been changed, or whether the game will actually run properly on high end machines till they have spent their £30?

I believe those are items 6 and 7 on the Handy Dandy Bitch thread.

Eye, but how I see it there is no need to change it.

But to who do you think CA will listen? To 10% of the customers or to the other 90%?

I never noticed any speed issues - casn someone clarify what 90% of people have experienced as I clearly fall in the 10% of numpties who didn't notice.

Isn't it funny how people trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell?

The speed issue is one I've kept up on, but performance?

On a system with even a vaguely reasonable graphics card, an under-spec processor, and 256Mb of RAM the demo has run very well for me. On the other hand, on a 2.6Mhz processor, with a 9800 pro and 1Gig of RAM it's really quite amazing to watch.

The only problem I've noticed with performance is that, when the Numidian Cavalry form a Cantabrian Circle around the elephants, the elephants don't get up on their hind legs and dance.

jk. I am curious about performance problems -- I assume there are threads around here or elsewhere to look at?

Not noticed any threads here in the Colosseum that clearly talk in great detail about unit speeds??

Anyone else who thinks unit speed is ' just fine '......lol ... after all that's been said about this what more is there to say.

One consolation Lamorak, the good ol' US gets this game first again ( that's a surprise ) so you can judge whether or not to buy the game from the comments raised.
If run inf speeds are changed I'll definitely get it but playing mainly MP, there is no way the demo speeds are going to work.

Personally I don't think it can be ' fine ' when inf can keep up with cav, it's ridiculous

most people with low-average machines seem to be just happy that it actually runs on their machine i think, and if it stays above 15fps on average they seem to be ok with that.

Personally, im not happy with that level of performance. It seems ridiculous that my 4ghz P4, 1gb RAM, and 6800GT@ULTRA speeds cannot manage a minimum frames per second out of the high 20's, and averaging between 29-35 with a reasonable level of zoom.

It isnt a unique problem, look at the many tech sites around and their gaming/support forums and this problem is across the board.. mostly voiced from people on high end/enthusiast PC's as that is where people notice games issues/performance problems the most.

yea, will be good to see feedback first i guess, but there is no way i can pass up on getting RTW the instant it is out, i just couldnt lol

I think i might even play the single player campain to

Yep Im worried. The demo completely cured me of the unhealthy urge to go out an buy the game right away.

Let them Americans find out first if the game is worth it

I got a CoD expansion to play anyway. Now with the ability to sprint but somehow that doesnt make me worried compared to unit speed in RTW...

Dude - what have you done to your rig??? Maybe it's just crappy NVidia that needs a driver tweak. I got less horsepower than you and I've just run the demo with FRAPS in the background. I'm running everything maxed out at 2048x1536x32 and getting 25-35 fps

If I were you, I take off, nuke the rig from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.

    BTW - Athlon XP Barton 2500+: R9800 Pro: 1024 PC3200. NOTHING overclocked.

Yes CBR, it is all a bit worrying. At first I played the demo and thought " they start off in yer face and that's the reason it feels rushed " but having played Alioven's 1.12 it becomes far more obvious. It is ridiculous to see infantry units chasing cav around. I see MP being a disaster if inf run speeds are left untouched. The potential is there, the graphics ( has anyone zoomed down in amongst the units and watched the arrows? Superb! ) the beautiful maps...and then to have units rush around, with armour, carrying shields, weapons etc, changing the game commands when they were already very good, for no apparent reason........

I suppose SP will be very nice, very immersive and when it comes to battles the pause button will help slow things down and you can always count on the AI to pull some silly stunts.

I'd like that kind of immersive feel in MP battles too, we've had some great hour long battles where you could watch the battle unfold. I doubt we would get many of those...probably all over in 5 minutes.

Let's just wait and see....and hope we are wrong

This rig runs all other games at the standard that is to be expected of it, and the OS is tweaked to the bone. Theres something either nvidia or CA's side that needs to be sorted for us 6800 users, and fast.

if you'd seen my posts in other threads (mainly apothecary) i have always maintained that it could partly be driver issues (a lot of the complaints are with 6800's, but NOT all)... and tbh i hope it is. However, as stated above for ME 25-35fps isnt good enough.
