Wait a second... It says that the Julii are fighting the Barbarians and that the Brutii are in Southern Italy. I always thought that the Julii were in the south, the Scipii were fighting abainst the Barbarians and that the Brutii were towards the East, fighting the Parthians and Greeks. Is the article right?

EDIT: Wow, there are a *lot* of different temples.

From what I know, the Scipii are in the south to reflect Scipio Africanus' campaign against Carthage. Other Scipii members also had campaigns against Carthage. The Julii are against the barbarians to reflect Caesar's campaigns against them.

Edit: I thought that each Roman faction would only have one deity specific to them. It looks like a lot. I wonder if each deity is for a specific faction or if some are shared or if they are going to be doing it in another way.

Yup, it is long and comprehensive. Also includes building descriptions for each faction. I expect all this material has been lifted directly from the game (via CA).

I'm inclined not to read it - after all, very soon we'll be able to read the real deal in situ in the game.

When I saw it was 19 pages I thought it would take forever to sift through, but those temples really cut down on that, you only needed to look at one for each diety (which is still substantial).

Wow, yep, this may occupy the rest of the day...

I wish they didn't waste so much on the Romans and more on the interesting factions.
    Oh well.

Well it should be "Republic Roman Era Total War".

The reason the Romans have a lot of troops is because of the Marian reforms. They have new legions, new archers, new cavalry, new skirmishers and new spearmen to replace the Triarii as their primary anti-cav. Not to mention the specialized troops that Augustus made to guard cities and be his bodyguard.
