    You can still see the Windows Media ones, even if you aren't an IGN insider.

    The voice actors and the speeches in these videos are terrible! Blech, they sounded like something out of a cheesy RTS cutscene.

    I know for a fact CA's writers can do better. Recall the speeches heard after winning a campaign in Medieval, excellent stuff.

    The Julii one is stupid, sure they give rise to Caesar and the Emperors but the title and postition were created by Agustus. I mean,
    I will be Emperor
    WTF. Emperor is the anglization of the latin Imperator meaning commander. Agustus only made himself Emperor cause the roman people would never have accepted him as king.

    The title of "Imperator" was an old Roman honourary title I think. IIRC Scipio Africanus was called Imperator as a term of respect for his accomplishments on the battlefield...

    As you say Augustus chose the title and gave it a new meaning. Mainly because the Romans hated Kingship (stemming from the fact that their early kings were brutal tyrants who deserved to be overthrown) They don't follow kings, they kill them.

    The greatest prize for a Roman general was not just to be awarded a rich province to conquer/controll/manage for the senate,but to granted IMPERIUM within said province.This meant that the General had absolute power IN that province and he was also immune to prosecution.Imperium was only granted for a set number of years.Imperator was a rather more long term(and illegal)arrangement which Agustus steamrolled through the Senate.

    I thought all Roman positions of civil rank hand a form of immunity from prosecution, thats the reason people tried to hang on to them even beyond the normal maximum time period...

    Anyway, do we think these videos are from in game? To introduce the faction at the start of a new campaign perhaps??? Or just marketing tools??

    @BobTheInsane

    I believe you are right about the immunity while holding a civil position but a holder of Imperium is still immune for anything he has done WITHIN the province he runs even after his Imperium is up.This is because he has the legal right as granted by the Senate to do whatever he sees fit IN that province.
