    Hey Zebron

    Welcome to the Org

I haven't played the Historical Campaigns for a while... can you remind me of the details of the battle... is it the one where you start in a castle, or outside a castle or chasing the English?

    Cheers

Thumbs up Re: MTW: Joan of Arc Missions

    Hi
I have done all the historical campaigns and the Joan of Arc ones are the most difficult! There was posted some time ago a detailed instruction of how to win the battle but I cannot find it at present. (I will post it if I do) In brief, you use your cavalry to wipe out all those infantry that are outside the castle and use the crossbowmen to shoot down the Chivalvic Men at Arms. Meanwhile your artillery is destroying the castle walls in front of them. The key is to use the artillery on the righthand side to concentrate on making at least two breachs in the KEEP walls. Send all your infantry around the castle to just outside these breachs and get the cavalry to join them later. Send the crossbowmen to guard the main gate or a breach on the left hand side of the castle. The main english force will then stay in the courtyard or will sally out and destroy the crossbowmen. Meanwhile you can send almost all your forces to assault the small force in the keep. In a toe to toe fight the English will win as they out number you heavily, so you have to draw them off to stand a chance. Good luck!

Thanks, I will give that strategy a try. I am glad to hear that the Joan of Arc missions are tough, I am sure having a difficult time with this one!

    Thanks again,

I think that the only surefire way to win the mission is clever use of your less useful fighting troops. If you can get a few of the enemy units to rout some of your guys, they will start chasing after them, and while they are outside the walls, you can rush in with your elite guys and fulfill the objectives. Overall, this mission is TOUGH, and it requires a bit of luck in that the more guys you can get to chase your initial wimpy troops, the better your chances of victory.

Thanks for all the advice. I finished the scenario by converging all of my troops on the keep side of the castle and drawing the keep forces out to be surrounded and dispatched after taking the walls down. Meanwhile, my demi-cannons on the other side of the map took down the main castle walls. The cannons, now defenseless, were rushed by every single troop in the main part of the castle (I guess they wanted to make REALLY sure to take down my cannons! ). I ended up with nearly all of my mobile troops in the keep, and the castle virtually empty.

    Thanks again guys,

    Z
