    Default Sound and Music!

Argh ok, my pre-order is in partial back order wich is lame, i personally can't wait for this game but whatever, let me get to the point.

For whoever has the game in his hands right now how is the sound and music? i hope its better than the demo anyways, but music is pretty important for the game to be pretty fun, for me anyways.

Thanks for the answers in advance.

Well, medieval didn't really have any music, it cut off after about 1:30 every battle, and it was still good.....
"Sit now there, and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come to those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shall thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end". -Tolkien

Well medievals music was great becuase it had.. how do i put it in words.. "local" music for the islamic and christian factions, VI had viking-esque music, STW and MI also sported great music (mongol and japanese) and so on, thats why its great, i'm hoping rome also has this sort of music in it, and not generic music like it had in the demo.

from the early reviews, it seems the music will be inspiring (think star wars, sorry the dvds are on my mind) and the sound effects will be engaging (think thousands of booted feet coming to walk all over you!).

i hope there won't be any chirping on the campaign map.

I just got it installed and was just messing around with settings. I decided to take a look at the credits...the music is the same as the menu music for the demo but with a wordless(?) female vocal. It was OUTSTANDING. From the credits, it was Angela(?) van Dyck - perhaps the wife or sister of the composer Jeff van Dyck? Anyway, I really liked the menu music but this vocal version blew me away. The vocal reminded me a bit of Enya in style.

That is all I can say about the music at this point.

Very good to hear that the music has been spiced up from the demo. The menu music in the demo isn't very professional from a technical standpoint - it sounds too much like stock synth sounds.

Thumbs up Re: Sound and Music!

I was mistaken about the closing credits song. It does have words but my soundcard was giving me troubles earlier so I couldn't hear clearly. As luck would have it, now that the soundcard is working properly, I have a noisy clothes dryer running nearby, so I still can't make out all the words. One part, near the crescendo of the demo/menu version of the song, goes like this:

"Be brave, be strong, be true..."

    Another bit laments (paraphrasing here):

"We didn't know the cost the fight would bring"

I'm curious now about all the lyrics for that song.

After a few more listens, I have to correct my impression when I said it sounded much like Enya. After watching the animated silhouettes fighting in the background during the song/credits, I had the feeling of watching the opening credits of a James Bond movie (without the female silhouettes). I realize that probably doesn't sound very good in your mind for a TW game, but it works for me. I can't put my finger on a particular James Bond song, but it is not like any of the more famous ones (Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, etc.). It is a very nice song and Angela van Dyck has a great voice for it.

I'm not really a fan of the maiden-wispily-singing; It should have been ominous or stirring at least, since it is total war after all.

Like JVan Dyck said in the interview: He was instructed to emulate the Gladiator soundtrack. I think I remember hearing the lady-chants in the movie. Especially during the death or dream sequences.

So I guess that was it.

This was Lisa Gerarrd singing in the movie. The most beautiful female voice ever (a least in my opinion).
