Beautiful screenies. Thanks for giving us poor RTW-deprived fools something to drool over.
Nope - no sig what so ever.
Im sorry newb question, but how do you take screenshots? What file do they go to once you have taken them?
You use the Prt Scn button. The addendum says that they will be put into a folder in you installation. That doesn't see to work for me. So I do Prt Scn and paste the image into Paint, save it as a jpeg.Originally Posted by element

More screenshots, hope you like 'em
Family Tree
Here is the Julii family tree. Couple of things here. Women and children are a generic picture. I don't like this; well don't mind for the children but women should have individual pictures. This detracts from my immersion in this part and would like CA to add individual female pictures. But just for the family tree, the fact that the retinue pictures are duplicated doesn't seem to bother me. Actually let me amend that; each turncoat or slave "faction type" should have their own picture - a barbarian and carthigian slave shouldn't have same picture (but that's a really small nit).
Second, I was hoping that right clicking on a dead member would show some sort of history; maybe battles fought, offices held, where & how he died. But they're not clickable. Oh well.
Third, anyone else think its interesting that the son-in-law with no children just happens to have a hot slave as a member of the retinue?![]()
Fourth, I wish there was a way to get your sons or daughters married. I've got two bachelors who've been like that for a long time now.
Brigands
I've noticed that there are wandering bands of brigands. These brigands showed up and headed for Segesta. I had to reinforce it from a fort (which is behind the scroll.
Important point watch who you're moving! That army south of the bridge and north of the port was moved from Mediolanium to the fort to keep it around but I selected it as part of the fort's reinforcing army without looking at the green movement range. If I did I would have realized that I selected the wrong unit as it couldn't reach. I had to drop it off along the way. Which brings up another point, you can't undo moves like MTW![]()
Notice that there aren't any reinforcements availableYour armies have to be pretty close to support; the unit on the other side of the brigands should have been close enough but I think because I was sallying out of the town, the battle area just missed it. Now if I had attacked with the one unit lead by a captain it possible that the town would have sallied out.
Preparing town assault
This shows the campaign map of one of the Julii youngsters preparing to seige a rebel town. I think since the settlement only has small wooden walls around it we only need to build a ram. Look we got principes!![]()
Town assault
Once you start the assault you get a quick flyover (I snapped it as it was panning). Notice at 9 o'clock the open space with the flag. That's the village center and the goal. You take that and hold it for 3 minutes you've won the battle.
Here we come
Look peasants! And they've flanked a unit of principes charging hoplites. The other principes are getting ready to charge the flank of these peasants... they're starting to throw their pila.
Look no peasants! but the hoplites are fighting to the last man. Uhoh defeat is a distinct possibility...
then again...
Well I made a bone headed mistake. The Gauls had sued for peace just before this assault (which I accepted). So after the battle I sent out our young pup fresh from his victory to build a watchtower with only a token force. Unfortunately there was a large Gaulish army nearby...
Which brings up another important point. If your army doesn't have any movement points it cannot withdrawal from the battle. The withdrawal button is grayed out. You're stuck, make the best of it and hope you can survive.
