I think you are right about adopting good captians. I lost too many family members, so i had to keep my remaining family members in the towns. Obviously i ended up battling with captians. After a few succesfull battles i started getting addoption notices.

Another question, how do i ambush armies in the campaigne map? How does it work, and what can i do exactly, the options?

When your army stops moving in a forest or in a wooded area there is a chance that they will hunker down and say "Ready for abush" and wait for an enemy unit to march past. If that happens you can ambush the enemy. Ambushing here means that the enemy is arranged in a column, marching formation with no chance to redeploy before battle adn you are allowed to arrange your units all around the enemy pre-battle.

I've yet to have it happen but I can't wait to use some Germans to slaugher some Romans this way.

this time i have an other type of question, when i use flaming arrows, and the arrows are airborne and smoking, that seriously lag my comp.

My comp specs are

AMD 2600 1.9 ghz
512 DDR RAM
Geforce 6800 GT

I dunno why but it seriously lags, it's the only thing that really does lag in the game for me and when in huge battles the archers make it unplayble for me when i command them to use flaming arrows, anyone have this problem as well?

I'm not much of a hardware geek, but I suspect that adding more RAM will fix your lag problem. I am running a 1.5GH P4 and an ATI All In Wonder 9000 card, but I have 1K RAM. I'm using the settings that the game picked for me, and I haven't experienced a lag problem yet.

When they mean quarentine, all they mean is to keep whatever units/agents you have in that city. If you start moving around, they will pass the plague.

So no units come in or out of the city. Don't worry about trade, it doesn't spread plague.
