I'm very happy you'd like to play MP! I'm playing MP for a while now too and would love to play with you someday! I'm mostly online(shambles foyer) at Wday and Fday from 13.30 to 16.15. Just PM if you'd like to play with me.

The more important part:

1) Do you have v1.02? Almost everyone who still plays MP has that v1.02 so you need it too. If you don't have it: www.totalwar.com , click downloads and look for a heading like 'download stw we patch 1.02'. You can choose between various languages for the download. With this download, you save an .exe file into your shogun folder, simply click that one to start 1.02 setup

2) I noticed shambles site being offline temporary too. Check www.7bear7.com/shogun.html and download the shamblestw.exe file. When you've done this, open the STWserver.bat file that appears when you've installed shamblestw.exe. In that file configure for shambles server and run shogun afterwards. In shogun, click: play via EA-play, and choose a clan name and a nickname. Don't fill in CD-key and password, they're not necessary.

I hope it works for you now. And I hope to play MP with you soon.

I checked the links I posted, and unfortunately the 7bear7 shogun page is off too at the moment. (I hope it get's back soon . . .)

I checked via www.7bear7.com , but the link was correct, the page is just off now.

OK, I'll tell you how to do configuration for shambles server myself then:

1) Enter shogun game folder
2) open internet.cfg (with notepad)
3) change the internet.cfg content with:

ChatserverIPAddress	= ShogunTW.no-ip.info
ChatserverPort 		= 8793
NewsserverIPAddress 	= daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort 		= 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite 	= www.totalwar.com

You cannot contact Tosa's server with this configuration, so try to download shamblesTW.exe as soon as the 7bear7 page gets back online.

When at the server, your firewall may be preventing you from hosting games, so disable it when playing MP. Also turn off music, fauna and smoke for a better speed of the game.

Hope it'll work now.

EDIT: also check this thread: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=48438 in case your router or your firewall is blocking your hosted games.

Web page is still there.
But looks like the redirect isnt working,

90% of the web site for the firm that redirect to my url seems to be down.
It should work again soon though

This is the actual url to my web page, The other url is a redirect service,
Which I use as its easier to remember than the big bulky url I should have,
Ive added the back up link in my sig, so if it happens again, people should still be able to get to web page with ease

Ok guys done all that you said but the might be an unforessen problem - i am on broadband so i assume that I just click the 'existing internet connection' box - well thats what i have done anyway - I'm trying to summon up ShambleS server at the moment with no success... anything I have done wrong?

yes you tick use existing internet connection And then..
You just need to click on play on ea play my freind,
and it may take several attempts.

Unfortunatly i will be away from my pc for a little while now,
But i will be back later as wer are sceduled a game,

I don't tick that box, actually, and it works fine.

Try logging in with different nicks and clan names, it might help.

odd - it says that dialup aren't connected.... I think my dad has configured the pcs so that my broadband box is part of our LAN..... I'll have to try a few more times - then i'll have a word...

well im back now,

When you ran shamblestw.exe did you get a black screen with a bunch of options ?
Or did it open then close straight away?

If it closed straight away then you cant run bat files,
and you should either edit your internet.cfg file
or you can
download this

(you may need to right click the link and say save target as but make shure its still called internet.cfg )"it should download ok any way"

After you download the file

right clck the shortcut you use to open the game,
select properties.
then find target,
It will open a new window,
Then paste the file you jut downloaded in to that folder,
Over write previous files,

And you can then use the play on ea play functioon in the game to connect.

Looking at fake server now It looks as though some 1 has been loging in But they have not been entering a user name,
Is this you??

If so please give your self a name.
Then try again.

I will kick out the multiple users with no name now.

If you have been trying to log in without entering a user name then your settings are correct as i can see Some 1 has tried multiple times to connect But have not enterd a name,

So if it was you,
just enter a name and try again as it sems everything should be ok as i can see the attepts you have made,

If it says your not connected simply tick the use existing internet conection box

If it dose not sat loged on almost instantly

Hit escape and then try again

ps port 2536 should be opend on your router,
and if you use a fire wall make shure it allows shogun to send and receve udp's and anything els it wants to on any port it likes,.

but it does not look like you have managed it,

dont wait for it to say loged on if it says connecting or loging on,
Just hit escape and try again
It should log on in a matter of 2-3 seconds
I am watching some 1 attempt to connect,
Well they did once so far

So try again It really should just connect,
It may be a fire wall configuration problem.

If your pc is not the host pc,
I.e
Your pc connects to the internet using a shared connection Through a network,
prehaps you should check the configuration on the host pc,

You need a logfilereader to find out how much honour upgrades
those YSams had. Given the proper updates any unit can defeat
any other. Part of the difficulty of MP is to determine what upgrades
one should buy for which units.
For No-Dachi, H5W1 is quite common.
Yari-Sam need to be at least H6.

IIRC a YS just need one honor upgrade more than the ND to be equal in combat power (depends what version of STW/MI)

well my no dachi had h4.
and i guess the yari sams that made mincemeat of them must have had h6.

I will remember to keep an eye on these things during battles.
