Actually, I can confirm that the original STW, patched for 1.12 does indeed work on Shambles Fakeserver!!!

P.S.- I should add that all of this was accomplished with my having Windows XP, Service Pack 1. I've refused to upgrade to XP Service Pack 2, as I've read that it hinders playing either Shoggie or MTW.

This time, now patched to v1.12, I have just connected to Shambles FS and all the sections are now showing. Would like to run a test 1 unit game set up to prove that it does run ok. Similar to the Hosting test I did with drisos the other week.

good to hear people can also play STW original at the fakeserver. the 7bear7 clan will be very happy!

When I run into a cheap STW original copy I'll buy it, but I don't think that has a big chance.

Tiger, please don't give up on finding a WE copy. it's great that you can play, but I'd love to play you too!



EDIT: have been gone for some days, so couldn't come on in the weekend. However, I'll come on friday 11.00 GMT to 16.15 GMT or a bit sooner I guess. I hope to see some others then. The coming weekends I will also be there a lot I think.

Yep I did the same mistake and did not patch the game in my test either,

So i guess all is fine and if any 1 asks We all know to tell them you need to update your game :)

We seriously need to post regular availability times, or state when it's likely that we might be able to show up in Shambles foyer. Since we all seem to be spread out throughout the world, 'being in the foyer all day' is a relative thing indeed! Sadly, Drisos is found in Shambles foyer whilst I am sleeping...i.e. early morning hours. I was, ironically, able to have some great games with Cha yesterday...and he's in South Korea!!!

I've had a good deal of time on my hands of late, as I've been eduring life without a car (it's in the shop) for some time now. So, I tend to check into the foyer sporadically throughout the day, mostly during late morning hours and throughout the afternoon (Eastern Standard Time). Perhaps we should establish a definitive day and time that we should all meet?? I understand that schedules and the day to day grind of working life can make that difficult, but set times might further encourage online activity. Last weekend I can't recall having seen a soul in the foyer. I realize we Shoggie diehards are few in number these days, but it would be a shame if we were to keep passing each other by, like ships passing on a fog enshrouded night.

Perhaps it would be easier if all online players establish a standard time.

Take GMT as the base.

In the UK it is now GMT+1 hour (BST)

New York is GMT -5 hours so would be 07.00am

Sydney (Australia) is GMT +10 hours so would be 10.00pm

These are examples to help people sort out when others are likely to be online. Early evening or afternoon and not when they are in bed asleep

I used to play shogun with a friend in Australia and had to log on 12.00 mid day so as to meet him at 10.00pm in the evening.

Hope this will be of some help to you.

good point methos. there are quite some players but there are few games. communication should be better in stw mp.

I check this thread several times every day... but not many who really tell me they're there. when I invite someone who's online here...he's mostly at work or anyhow busy..

not only in the 47Ronin group but also for the entire community we should set some standard times, methos. people can then adjust their schedual a bit to that. (do business at other times)

I hope we somehow work this out.

SOS was quite popular... but I for instance will be able maybe one out of 4 sundays, and maybe more... so IMO we should set some more times. therefor all MP players should be contacted. a lot of work, but I'd do anything for STW MP.

I will pop in and out whenever I get the chance, but here is my general online schedule:

Fri: 8pm-midnight (GMT)

Sat: 5pm-7pm (GMT)

I also usually check the servers late at night (my time) to see if anybody is on, usually around 7am-9am (GMT)

I might be able to squeeze in games at other times if peeps are going to be on, but for the next three weeks or so I wont be around much more that these hours.

What about someone making a calendar available online, and post the players, and times they are usually available, on it? It would require a little maintenance, but I wouldn't think it would be a lot. If someone is savvy enough, a calendar that allowed peeps to post their own schedules would be cool and give a single point of reference for people to use, to determine when players are available.

A sidenote: I will lose my internet access in 2-4 weeks, and I don't know for how long. It could be for a long time. Sadly, this will make it impossible for me to play or regularly visit you all here and on the other forums. For a few this will be good news, but my regrets to those who have enjoyed my company, and whose company I have surely enjoyed.

My comment was made with a couple people specifically in mind, who all but overtly stated that they'd like this place better if I and "people like me" were not around. One is staff (not Sasaki) with an Olympian ego, and the other is a sour clannie of the dominant clan at this site. They both know who they are. I must confess, it is annoying to do something (without actually doing anything) that pleases them . Yeah, I'm a lil devil indeed. But what can I say? Tis the nature of this beast ... .

I also have great respect for the guys that run these sites/forums- a thankless task and very time consuming! A mention too for the new faces around here that are keeping the community going, and to shambles and his server.
Toga will be missed and I hope others realise this too, in this fading community such a loss is tragic. I do hope he will be able to return in the future, although Ive been 'out of the loop' for a while myself its good to come back now and then and see the old gang still here.I salute you all!!!

Nice and IMO wise words. In the small S:TW MP community there should be no fights indeed. This is a great loss to the MP comunity, not only because of Toga's great charactere, also because he helped and trained many newbies in the game (including me), which is in my eyes an act of great honour. Toga, we shall be here when you return m8, things in private life can make you loose contact, like GaiJin did. But as soon as you fix things we will be standing side by side again in S:TW MP!

To read this from a man of few words touches my heart, and yes, I am your friend, just as you have said you are mine. Gaijin, When you have "spoken" here and on the other forums, your words have been True, wise, and compassionate. You are perhaps the finest model of an "honourable" player that I have encountered in my relatively short time in this community. How deftly you redirect my heart, and hence, my words.

Drisos--you carry the flag now, and your goal is a difficult one. Maintain your faith and effort in keeping the STW-MP experience alive--it only takes a handful of players to have fun. Leave those who would speak doom and gloom to their shadows, and focus on those who still have a love for the game. Invest in them, and perhaps they will reward your efforts. I did, and they did (wink-wink).

I hope my situation will stabilize and I can come back soon. Now BACK ON TOPIC, lol ... I am getting embarrassed.

As a new guy on the block - I'd like to say Hi to everyone ("Hello!")

I've been searching around for quite a while now on how to get Shogun working online, since EA've gone & closed all the official servers...

I have Shogun-Total War: Warlord Edition - so I'm just wondering what patches I need to download, and how exactly to get playing online...

Please bear in mind it's been a while, & I'm rather terrible at STW right now, so I think going online's the best way to regain what I once had... lol Anyway - any help will be welcomed, cheers guys...
