    Default Drown the general

It was a bridge battle and I let the enemy get to the edge of the bridge and then I had my hastati unleash there javelins and the gauls charged leaving a gap between my men and the bridge(wich is what I was hoping for). I then took my cavalry around on this flank and charged. All the sudden the zoom in for the generals death came up and all I saw was the edge of the bridge and the river and tons of the generals cavalry flying into the river, and a few gauls. Ohhh great !!!! I'm just in total pain knowing I lost my general this way maybe he will resurect in the casualty log. Well the game zooms back out and I quickly open the message log and whew it was the enemy general that drowned. Lucky me I shall never charge a generals unit on the bridge now knowing the possibilities.

    THat's annoying - I have something similar./.... kinda

I was beseiging a town with about 15 Units. I send them in, they get slaughered - I was really annoyed but that's not the point. THe point is that I had 5 Cav units and some archers and Velites which I didn't want to lose so thought "I'll come back and fight another day" so I Withdrew all of those units off the map.

    BAD IDEA

Every single unit got killed somehow even though there were no enemy units anywhere close to there - including my General. They just never showed up on the campaign map and I was told that my General had died a Heroic death.

I've seen posts on other forums saying that sometimes individuals and even entire units just drop dead while crossing bridges. .

COLOVIAN How much of your army was left? I do'nt know where the cutoff is but if you lose more than 60 to 70 percent of your army it gets disbanded. Another thing could be is how much was left of his movement bar? It probably was'nt a glitch but I do think its gay that if you have a decent amount of your army left that they should'nt be disbanded regardless of movement points. I know why they made armies dissapear if they lose a lot and thats so you do'nt have to chase down 20 peasants from a army of a couple hundred or more.

Hmm - well the majority of my troops did die - but that's a lot of Cavalry, archers/skirmishers plus one family member I lost just because of that. I probably didn't have movement left in all of my units as I had just moved some archers and a ballista into that stack before assaulting - but besides that I had movement left for teh General/Cav (I guess it's nulled because of those other units though). That'll teach me to Withdraw after getting decimated - and I thought I'd save the General to fight another day that way.

That's very odd. I don't think an army could get disbanded if there's a family member still alive leading it. I remember attacking the Gauls and killing almost everything except the faction leader and a family member and maybe a few others. They made it alive and lived to fight another day. I got them anyway by attacking again. I forgot whether they were able to recharge and how many.

Hmmm... Now I know what not to do when I get to play the game.
