    Default Pet monkey. Catamite. Courtesan.

I went on an assassination spree last night, trying to get a grip on the agents in RTW. My super-star assassin quickly attracted followers, namely, a pet monkey, a catamite, and a skilled courtesan, each of whom conferred benefits on him.

But the main thing, for me, was how hard I kept laughing when I saw those three portraits and descriptions. Even when I went to bed, I kept repeating to myself, "Catamite, pet monkey, courtesan." And then giggling like a schoolgirl into my pillow.

I think there's some sort of competitive sport at CA to see how outrageous and over-the-top they can get with the followers and V&Vs. I mean, there were some screamers in MTW as well, but CA seems to be going even further to make me laugh this time.

And what's wild is that they manage this while maintaining a little bit of historical accuracy. Just a little. I mean, we've never gone back to the bad old days of twelve-foot-tall Kensais and super-assassin Geishas, so we can't complain that loudly.

Anybody else got some good hangers-on to share? The ones for the family members seem to be a lot less funny.

P.S.: My family member who sent out the waves of assassins got nothing but positive traits from being a homicidal maniac. I kept waiting for some negative fallout, but there was none. So far.

One of my faction members has a "Pet Idiot"

Another has "Drillmaster" which is not funny but is a nice entourage member. Cuts down on cost of recruitment and adds movement points to units recruited by the faction member.

Pet idiot, I like it! I want my very own!

The hangers-on develop in a very linear way. The family member who sat out most of his life in my capitol with a scriptorium wound up with a philospher, a mathematician, an architect and a priest of Saturn.

The adopted legionnaire I sent killing and pillaging all over North Africa wound up with a Veteran Centurion, a war hero, a drillmaster and (best of all) a turncoat Carthiginian.

I like having my very own race-traitor on staff. Not as funny as a pet idiot or a catamite, but close.

Haha! Pet idiot! So what bonus does it give to the general? Or does the idiot 'walk into the way of the general' and cause a lot of trouble? ~:D

    Pet idiots are vices
Makes it easier for your faction member to be assassinated. But still very funny!

The drill master is awesome. Discounts on training and a big + to movement.

Also, it claims it lets your army force march, but I do not know if that is just another way of saying +10% movement or if you have to do something extra.

My general character has an amazing collection of turncoats: greeks, slaves, barbarians, etc.

My characters that visit a town with a fully upgraded jupiter temple seem to get a priest, and the ones that sit in towns with academies seem to get good management guys.

I had one centurion or something that was +1 command when commanding infantry - does this mean if you have infantry in your army, +1 command? or that your general physically must be an infantry general to get this?

My one funny one is a pet doggy for my man up in Germany - adds +1 to los or something like that.

And alas, you can't trade retinues from diplomats to characters

Don't forget the cooks and gourmonds, they increase the chance of you getting killed by an assassin. It was still funny to see my 8* General with his very own gourmet chef following him around Germania and Gaul. All I need now is a brewer and I won't have to leave camp.
