Has anyone figured out how to bribe armies to keep them? So far, I've only been able to bribe them to disband, but I don't get the units. This really sucks, to say the least.... Any ideas?![]()

I don't how to do it but I have bribed an army and kept it before, maybe it's based on skill or something I have no idea, seems totally random. Or maybe only armies in your territory can be kept? I dunno but I know I have done it before.
I think it has to do with whether the rebels have a general unit or not. Added to whether the diplomat has high enough skill.
If you havin' skyrim problems I feel bad for you son.. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one.

I bribed a 2 unit rebel army and they became my soldiers. If they have a general it is alot more expensive so I don't do it.
I can only speculate. Maybe your diplomat's skill or your ruler's influence or if they are in your lands (that's where I bribed them).

i've not been able to bribe any rebel armies and keep them, but i have bribed several rebel towns and kept them. and the interesting thing was, i expected the rebel cities to riot right away, since the happiness rating went to zero when i bribed it over, but, no riots and i didnt have an army in the town. i immediately built a temple and a peasant in the city and it brought the rating up enough that i got no riots. nice :) do that to a faction city and you'll likely get riots, but the rebels remained calm enough to keep the city.
K.
it may depend if ur faction can build the enemy's unit. I've bribed a few parthian armies, the ones that came over to my side were cataphracts who rocked.....

Well, I managed to keep on army, but it's not really worth it to bribe them unless you can keep them, for me at least.

What's the point of bribing unless you can get units you can't train? The mercanaries are so rare for me, I need to get some foreign units!

Wierd...
I have been able to bribe armies but they only disbanded.
Once I was able to even keep the general but his army disbanded.
There seems to be alot of complexity to this game that is not well explained.
Now I here the startegy guide mostly just talks about units.![]()

IIRC, the manual says you will only have the bribe option if you have at least 2000 denarii in your treasure. Perhaps this is the reason why you don't always get the option in the diplomacy screen, or perhaps you only get the option when you have _enough_ money to bribe that particular unit. Perhaps there are several kinds of bribing, e.g. if you give them 3.5k they will disband, but if you give em 5k they will become your troops. I'm just speculating, of course. I've been broke most of the time![]()
Therapy helps, but screaming obscenities is cheaper.
You can only bribe generals/governers and keep them.
Bribing cost is very low in RTW. It costs the same to bribe enemy armies as it did to bribe rebels in MTW. I bribed a full Macedonian stack for around 7000 denari and poof, it dissappeared.
I make a point to assassinate all enemy diplomats in my territory because of this.

Blodrast, I haven't seen any option. I click on bribe, it says what will happen, most of the times them going back to the fields. Once you send it, they say how much "gifts" are recuired to bribe them.
