Thread: Star Wars Total Conversion for RTW

Default Star Wars Total Conversion for RTW

I was thinking that this engine would perfect for portraying the epic battles of the Galactic Civil War! Imagine the Battle of Hoth in RTW! It's exciting just thinking about it!

And I don't think it would be all that hard to add certain units. For instance, the AT-AT could use the Elephant animation.

If a moderator could please move this topic to the RTW Mod Development Board, that would be great! Thanks.

I'd be surprised if this could be carried off well. Just the difference between a unit of archers with their arcing trajectory and a unit of stormtroopers with a straight-line rifle fire is an enormous change. And the Star Wars universe, or any theme based on guns instead of melee, would probably require completely different unit formations--battle lines just don't seem to make a lot of sense once you get past the American Civil War era.

Well, if it comes to the Fire Trajectories: Slingers probably have a very flat on so it should be possible to change it in one of the txts.

Anyway: Great Idea and i'm sure i would enjoy playing it, but what could get really really troublesome is Aircombat... I cant imagine how to put Ties into the TW Engine without making em useless or just, in some way, "weird" (dont know if thats exactly the correct Word)

I think the main problem will be the territory: so which planet are you gonna take and how are you going to divide it?
Maybe some historical battles can be done. But I thought that everyone agreed that it was a good thing that the jedi generals from MTW got replaced?

Indeed. But if you remember in Episode II; Clones and Droids were facing off in that way. I don't know if those tactics would be usefull in the OT era, but i'm certain formations things like that could be modified.

You could be right, but maybe there might be a work around. Perhaps they could work like cavalry units, and swing around after they have done an attack?

If it's possible to change the 3D map, I think i'd make it a space map representing the SW Galaxy. Planets would be represented as "islands", and the space around it would be there territory, if you get my meaning.

If I were to be a curmudgeony old historical-accuracy-er, I might say, "Star Wars: Total War? You wouldn't need much modding, the units are all there!"

Seriously though, I like the idea, actually thought about it a bit meself. COULD perhaps overlook airpower, though that would be moderately lame. Still, if this ever develops...
