    Default A wonderful campaign!!

I am playing at the moment what is probably the most enjoyable campaign I've yet played in MTW. It is with the Egyptians, in early, on Medmod.. conquest. I began by building up, etc.- then I started to take out the Turks. After some massive battles, I finally made it up to Rum- it was about 1110 by that point. In my wisdom I also decided to take on the Almohads- I was beating them back fairly well too, and made it all the way to Tunisia. However, on the next turn, the Byzantines attacked me in Rum with a 4-stack army out of Trezibond! I managed to beat that back.. also, miraculously, most of my dhows survived most of the attacks by the Byzantine navy that turn, and sunk probably 3/4 of it.
At that the same time, the Almos threw a huge army at me in Tunisia, forcing me to retreat. I took my men all the way back to Egypt the next turn. I finally began stabilizing my fronts, which at this point were on my west (almos), northwest (Turks), and north (Byzantines), having taken Trezibond from the Byzantines, when a couple turns later the Russians attacked me on my northeast front in Armenia! I found myself fighting huge battle after battle while rushing HORDES of Arab infantry to the front as fast as I could. Most of my navy, amazingly enough, survived AGAIN, this time against the Russian navy. Most of the Russian ships were sunk, and I was mostly able to maintain naval superiority in my home waters. I began rushing a fleet into the black sea to block the Russians from throwing men at Trezibond from that direction, while I beat off so many attacks in Trezibond from Russian Georgia that my general there became an 8-star field defense specialist. Meanwhile, I had attacked the Turks in Anatolia and failed.. the next turn I retreated out of Rum in the face of a massive Turkish army. I managed to strike back and retake Rum with reinforcements, while at the same time moving troops up to Georgia and Trezibond. At this time I was also attacked in Egypt by an Almohad army, which I threw back, stabilizing my front there once again.. the Almo army was shrunk to about half the size of mine, with sub-par troops.

Soon, the Russians invaded Constantinople, taking forces out of Georgia. I prepared for the last blow- I put some ships into the Black Sea, and launched a massive attack against the Russians in Georgia and the Turks in Anatolia (with my 6-star expert attacker). The Turks by this time were down to mostly spearmen- they first retreated into Nicaea, then stood. My Arab infantry and Mamluk cav slaughtered them, with a 6:1 KTD ratio. The Russians at first stood in Georgia, but retreated off the battle map after a few minutes without a fight. After taking Nicaea, thus stamping out the Turks, I moved into Constantinople- once again the Russians quit without a fight. I then took Rhodes with a force consisting of my king's mamluk cav, and the units of three of his sons, with two Arab infantry in support. It was against a 6-star general, I believe, with some v7 katanks, so it took awhile and lots of casualties; two princes were killed in the battle, but it was unimportant.. there were three others. (When I reached the battlefield, I realized it had been a bad idea to attack, but I couldn't retreat from it, or I would have had to spend 8,000 florins to buy back my king and his princes!).

Now I am in complete naval control of the Med, and I am poised to invade into Western North Africa and Eastern Russia, as well as to take Greece from the Russians and the rest of the islands from the Byz.

    A great time!!

    Well done!

My favourite campaign was with the french in the early period. The homelands on the holy lands were v hard to get, and it takes a lot of men to protect tripoli long enoug to build a fortress, the Krak

Somehow the victories against huge odds are always the most memorable - well done.

I thought my last GA campaign as the French was going well.... Took the holy lands with a crusade and held on by my fingernails against the Egyptians, Byzantines and a Turkish reemergence as I was building the Krak. Then just when it was almost completed I realized I had read the goals incorrectly - I had to finish the Krak by 1200 - not 1205. I was four years too late and missed the goal.
