I had a moment in a city assault that made me smile. As my troops tried to make their way to the central plaza, a group of velites, having exhausted their javelins in the initial assault, had a phalanx come up on their rear. I still had a unit of wardogs near the gate. I selected the wardogs & zoomed in on the two units of men facing off in the street. My velites prowled forward cautiously, seeming to look for any gap in the spears (nice animation work, CA!). I put the camera at a waist-high position behind the phalanx, & at what seemed like the right time, I ordered the wardogs to charge in. Then, just as the phalanx began to charge forward on my men, I saw the pack of dogs tear into the rear, tearing down the ones in the back, their bodies bending & lurching forward from the attack, & sending the entire phalanx running forward in complete panic. Not more than a couple of them reached the plaza.![]()
