wat does "follow AI characters" on choose faction screen mean?

hi guys juz got the game recently, started a new scipi campaign and saw this option, so wat does it mean? can't find it in the manual..tks :)

I think this option decides whether the AI unit movements are shown during their turns. So like, if you have a diplomat on a mission that lasts several turns and you don't actually move him by hand one of the turns, when you click the End Turn clock, the screen centers on all units with movement orders and points still unused and you watch as the comp moves your pieces for you. I belive this option affects whether you see all the AI faction moves too during their turns. I always turn it off, the movements take too long.
