Default Quick Question: What is sapping?

I noticed some units have the ability to sap, but what is it?

    Thanks.

Sapping is the ability to dig under enemy walls to collapse them. If you set a siege you will be given options of what you can build. A siege tower, battering ram, and a sapping point. Sorry can’t remember the name of it right now. Any unit that has a sapping ability will be able to dig under the wall and collapse it

sapping is quite useful, unless you do what i did and that was to start sapping a wall and the send my men with the ladders to the same wall. Thankfully i got most of my men on the wall away from where it collapsed but i lost about a 1/3 of my unit
