    Default Unlocking Factions?

As the Julii I destroyed the Greek Cities and Iberia, however, only the Greek Cities are available to play. Playing as the Greek Cities I destroyed Pontus and Macedon and neither is available to play, strangely enough, the Scipii destroyed Carthage (as always) in my GC campaign and now Carthage is available to play. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Carthage and The Greek cities are the only factions out of those you have listed that are playable in Campaign mode.

However, you can very easily make Macedon Pontus etc. available with a mod.

Iberia is not a playable faction thats why u only have the greek states as playable faction.Same goes for pontus and macedon.
U where actually better off steamrolling the gauls as the julii, that way u would have unlocked all the playable factions, conquering gaul is the main objective in the short campaign when playing as the julii.

JEAN DE ARC, I played as the julii and smashed the Gauls and I was the only 1 to take all of there provinces. But that only unlocked the gauls.

JOCK STRAP if you particpated in Carthages demise, the game makes them unlocked. Do'nt know how it figures it in wether all you had to do was win a sea battle and win or if you have to take over at least 50 percent of there land, as for me I took over 3 of carthages 6 territories. Even though I was'nt the one to deliver the crushing blow it unlocked that faction for me

thats cause u played a long campaign, if u play the short campaign as the julii then all the factions will be unlocked.

You can actually play Pontus, Macedon, Armenia, Scythia, Dacia, the Numedians etc if you edit one textfile. They are normally unplayable, but just editing this simple text file makes them playable without any side-effects (except for the Senate, which is buggy on the Senate scroll and unable to complete the campaign). The text file in the Imperial Campaign folder (in some subfolders) it is pretty straightforward, as it just lists "Playable, unlockable, and unplayable" factions right there.

Even better is to use the mod which has the changed text file, as well as the factions maps at the beginning of the campaign and portraits, to make those factions more attractive in the faction selectio screen.

Some mod should definately put this in a future FAQ, since this is one of the most asked questions to date.

Carthage attacked Syracuse on the second turn of the game. We were at war ever since, however, I never even saw them after I lost Syracuse to the Scipii the next turn. If one battle over 150 years counts as contributing to their defeat... wel then I guess you are correct.

shouldn't that be the other way round?

I just completed a full Julii campaign and have all the factions unlocked.

Playing as Brutii in short campaign is so easy it's unreal, yet it's best way to learn game at the start and beat Macedonia and Greece. Senate gives you missions promtly keeping you on track - Sparta, Athens, all fall rather easily with good sized forces, and finishing off the whole thing in Asia Minor and Rhodes. I played like that and once I won, I got all factions unlocked. So that's that.

BTW, make sure to get Carthage ahead of Scipii - it's a money factory, I was playing easily with around 10k of dinarii per turn of a profit. Makes making war easier. (I played on Medium all around though. But it was a first full campaign, so next one is going to be very hard and I'll play with Egypt).
