Where is the blood they all want to bathe in?

I'm just wondering why there is no blood in this game. Surely the battlefield must have been bloody after those epic battles. It must be possible to mod in some blood sprites or something. Or even better chopping of limbs!!!

T or 12+ ratings under the current system mean no blood. Simple as that. Certification wins on that particular issue.

Funny how you could enslave and murder entire settlements, chops limbs and kill thousands of enemy soldiers, assassinate leaders and blackmail nations but you can not show even a tiny spot of animated red pixels.

The rating system is ridiculous and doesn’t make any sense, game developers and publishers who voluntarily give in to that system make little service to the public (which this system was supposed to serve in the first place).

I wonder how long it will take before a mod that adds blood appears - anyone knows how difficult would it be to do that?

But red pixels are scary! Anyone who watches any tv knows about murder, rape, politics etc, but blood is scary.

Censorship is stupid. Particularly in this case. But if it sells more copies must be good...

Well, by the same logic you could say that you don't need 3D models and can represent every unit on the battle map with sprite or even just a number. You don't need grass, fog, smoke, dust, weather effects or flaming arrows. Hey, we could have stayed with the MTW battle engine.

Blood is certainly not needed, but it is yet another feature that makes the game feel more like a battle field and add to the atmosphere.

I see your point, but my point is, that the blood is not essential for my enjoyment of the game. I'd prefer to see a bit of blood too, but it really doesn't make much of a difference.

According to the link their is a file which is all about blood, looks like CA have given everybody the chance to MOD it in the game if they so wish, which is nice of them.

Its not vital but again....my men are been stabbed by pikes and just bouncing back winded....it would be nice to see some blood.

It certainly isn't a vital aspect, just would be a nice feature.

I'll be honest and say that I personally have not even noticed the lack of blood. The piles of corpses are gruesome enough. The only games where you even notice blood (mortal kombat, soldier of fortune) are those with buckets of gore and the proverbial "rivers running red".

Seems like this guy has actually been able to create two blood effects.

First One
Spraying Particles. Small blood pixels flying

Second One

Pool of Blood lying on the ground when youre dead.

Altough this guy hasn't released pictures or a mod yet i guess we will see it pretty soon.

I never thought about blood in the TW games until this thread.

I can live without it. If I want gore, I'll play Doom3.

After all, it's a strategic simulation, not a tactical one.

I really don't think armies bathing in bllod and entrails are necessary for the quality of RTW. People with low end PC's, such as myself, would only have more issues running the game if your graphics card had to use up more memory just to have some extra red pixels. I believe all the bodies laying around has the right effect. The fact that the game's battles are so fast and you hardly get to sit and watch much of the carnage (the fact you can't record the battles and watch replays like in MTW) what would be the point in blood?

Blood is not a big requirement, that's for sure, but really, the snobbish contempt against it is weird.

I wouldn't see blood being out of place. I don't mind if it's not here, but it's all the better if it is.

Yeah it's a matter of taste. Some people use all their time to remodel all the units to extreme just so they can get it so historical accurate as possible. Some people want blood that's all. If you don't want it. Don't get the mod. I dont want blood all over the place, I just want a realistic simulation of it. Tho i wouldn't mind chopping of limbs, mohahahaHAHAHAahAHAMAOHA!

I don't think blood is necessary but I sure wish it was an option. Those who don't like it could just keep it turned off. I'd download a blood mod if a decent one was made.

The thing is, violence in video games is all or nothing. You simply don't notice it unless it is prevailent, in which case it becomes the theme and center of the game. I am of the opinion that either a game should have no blood, or go all-out Soldier of Fortune or Carmageddon style. FPS games with just madatory red puffs just don't do it for me, the might as well not include it. Video game violence is an art unto itself, which the game must devote itself to. This would interfere with the gameplay part of totalwar, which is going downhill anyway.

It's rather strange tho. Since CA wanted to make to widen the game for a bigger audience they should have put blood in it. Blood always lures the crowd to a game. But then again they'll have to think about age limits. This game is hardly for children under 12 anyway so. I dont know.

As you see it looks pretty unrealistic, but if you look at the pictures in order you'll see that the blood has improved a bit. This like an alpha-alpha stage of the blood. So i think we'll see something more realistic.

I think pooling blood on the ground would be cool, but as most are saying - gameplay would not be improved by it. An option to turn it on and off would be good but maybe CA ran into the same trouble that the modder had by not being able to make it look good?
