Default dealing with brigands: an enforcer army...

this is actually a response to the colloseum post about dealing with brigands: but i cannot post there yet. my solution to dealing with brigands is a fast moving small army in the middle of my provinces (julii) consisting of light cavalry and DOGS... the doggies are great for dealing with all kinds of low level scum :)

Yeah, one or two small "hunter" armys with little upkeep and fast units (barb. Cavalry) work very well indeed when you are kinda spread out. Good rec. with watchtowers and good rouds with high mobility make sure that they are only a small prob. No they are even great to level your generals with quick search&destroy missions

Any new young general who shows signs of promise usually gets sent on patrol duty disbanding rebel armies to try to gain good stats before being sent to the front lines of whatever war I am currently fighting.

And I agree, dogs are great for rebel bands of peasants! They are kind of like ancient "Fire and Forget" weapons ;)
