Default Are there genetics in RTW?

Just wondering - in MTW, kings passed on their stats - more or less - to their princes. Hence you would pump up a king's stats through combat to get good successors (and royal generals). Is this still true in RTW?

With the more complicated family tree, does it pay to give special attention to men of "breeding age"? These will typically be young folk.

I tend to let the faction leader and heir do my fighting and pick up the command stars. This is a hangover from MTW, as these were the "breeders". But if "genetics" still work more generally, maybe I should rethink?

EDIT: More specifically, in MTW, the stats of the king when the prince came of age were crucial. If this is carried over more generally to all fathers in RTW, it might be wise to build up generals with boys.
