I was playing the Julii in a short campaign. I finally got the chance to build forum and churned out a couple assassins. I trained them up alot on diplomats and captains until one was level 10 and the other 8. When both were about 6 or 7 I started killing off Roman family members. I killed a few Scipii but mostly concentrated on the Senate. I killed all their members except for 3: the faction leader, the heir, and some other guy I kept missing. Well the faction leader dies, I kill the other surviving member and the heir (who was really crappy had a 32% to get him.)
So now theres that huge senate army walking around with no leaders at all. You know what that means: BRIBE TIME! For 5 thousand some-odd dinarii I got 3 hastai, princeps, tiarii, and 4 velites. All valour 3 and bronze weapon/armor. I guess when I eventually take rome now it'll be just me vs the two troops they have left in Rome.
What I don't like is that the senate wasn't eliminated once I took out their family. Rome would have been one heck of a prize in the early game. I understand though they must still be around for balancing and endgame issues.
I'm going to have to put the Senate Army into use by taking Spain and maybe Britannia. I don't know about the Britons though, because most barbarian settlements have really low populations. What's left of Carthage, Spain, and Numida on the other hand...
