Default Nighttime battles in campaign with timer off...

Ok, I've taken the timer off and was partaking in a siege and it took well over 20 min to complete. During certain points I slide the time slider up to max and left it rolling to get an idea on what the nighttime effect would look like. The sky appeared to darken a little and then it brightened up, apparently due to sunrise, etc....

My point is therefore, what should happen for nighttime? Does the map get really dark or is this slight darkening of the blue sky all that nighttime's cracked up to be? If so, it's hardly worth the wait...

    Anyone?

I don't they ever fought night times during those days. They hardly did it in World War II so the night is maybe not there because of unrealistic reasons?

There were historically night time battles for that time period
When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.

i think the dynamic time during battles is BROKEN!!! there is a file in the data folder, if i remember correctly, called ...daytype.txt. if you look at the content of that file you'll see that CA had intended for battles to be fought on dynamic time. day are supposed to progress into night and the next day.

CA need to fix this. dynamic time is something that they promised before the game was released.

I played a few night/evening battles by modding the demo, and it's pretty cool. It gets quite dark in the sky (and goes through sunsets on the clouds) and makes the ground a bit darker - doesn't alter the brightness of the soldiers much, so it doesn't make it hard to control them. I don't know if it might take longer to see enemies.

Don't have the real game yet, waiting on the MP issues to be resolved, so I don't know how it's implemented there, but I thought it was pretty neat in the demo and hope that you can get it in more than just the custom battles.
