Thread: What have the romans ever done for us!

Default What have the romans ever done for us!

For those that don't get the joke, go watch monty pythons 'Life of Brian'.

I just noticed this, and have only actually seen it once, but it had me in stitches.

In the buildings summary, I had built, amongst other things, an aquaduct. Instead of the 'brings in clean water' description you get normally, the description was:-

    "Construction completed. Aquaduct.

What have the romans ever done for us? This thats what."
I was trying to find some help in the ancient military journals of General Tacticus, who's intelligent campaigning had been so successful that he'd lent his very name to the detailed prosecution of martial endeavour, and had actually found a section headed "What To Do If One Army Occupies A Well-Fortified And Superior Ground And The Other Does Not", but since the first sentence read "Endeavour to be the one inside" I'd rather lost heart.

The Dev's must have had a field day in creating this game.. the Retinues, the Character Traits, the Inceniary pigs... all the little things are just spectacular. Too bad they can't stop my game from crashing to desktop during the turn phase once in awhile! :P

The occasional crashes in both Medieval & Rome, makes me thank CA every day for autosave.

Well ... if it wasn't for the Romans there wouldn't be a PFJ for one thing ...

"Well what they don't see stan is that it's the meek who are the problem...."

"The only people we hate MORE than the romans are the judean peoples front! And the judean popular front! And the Judean peoples popular front! And the peoples front of Judea! Slackers!"
    "What?"
"And the peoples front of Judea! Slackers!"
"Stan, we ARE the Peoples front of Judea!"
"Oh, I thought we were the popular front of Judea."
    "peoples front, PEOPLES front."
"What ever happened to the popular front of Judea?"
    "Thats him over there."

    ...

    "SLACKER!"

Another little easter egg I noticed. The capital of Locus Gepidae is called "Domus Dulcis Domus". Yes, that's right... it's "Home Sweet Home".

I get CTDs sometimes when loading the battlescreen. Never had one during the turn phase.

Now I'll probably start getting them in the turn phase....

if i may be so bold - the word is SPLITTERS !!!!

but one of the main bye laws of PFJ membership is up holding the solemn duty of 'not taking things seriously on any level' so - if you feel like repeating the quote with slacker instead of splitter, we for one (if thats possible) would not be offended in any way

here are some accurate (argh - taking it seriously offence) sigs we use on other forums -

we're currently looking for siblings in the fight against roman oppression (discounting those employed in the trades & services mentioned in the minutes of Brain's condolence speech above)

but obviously you have to hate the Romans ... a lot.
